From mid-June 2021, Giovanni, the Leader of Team Go Rocket has returned with a new lineup of Pokemon. And this time, it includes the legendary Shadow Pokemon, Ho-Oh.

You can catch the Fire & Flying-type Pokemon after you beat Giovanni. You can encounter Giovanni at Pokestops or a Rocket Air Balloon if you have the Super Rocket Radar.

You can get the Super Rocket Radar by completing the Team Rocket Special Research, “A Seven-Colored Shadow”.

The first Pokemon in Giovanni’s lineup is his favorite, Persian. To defeat the Normal-type Persian, use Fighting-type Pokemon to get the Super Effective boost.

Some of the best Pokemon that you should consider using are Lucario (Counter, Power-Up Punch), Machamp (Counter, Cross Chop), or Melmetal (Thunder Shock, Rock Slide, Superpower). Use the moves that have fast charges to lower Giovanni’s Shield. Aside from that, Giovanni will Freeze for about 2 seconds after you use the Charge Move.

The next Pokemon Giovanni will use is one between these 3: Machamp, Golem, or Cloyster. To counter Machamp, you can use Psychic-type such as Mewtwo (Psycho Cut, Psystrike), or Fairy-type like Togekiss or Gardevoir.

If Giovanni uses Golem or Cloyster, you can counter it with Fighting-type like Machamp (Counter, Cross Chop). Golem is also weak against Grass-type (Torterra, Roserade), Water-type (Kyogre), or Ground-type (Swampert). Cloyster is also weak against Electric-type like Raikou.

Lastly, Giovanni will use the legendary Shadow Pokemon, Ho-Oh. Ho-Oh is very weak against Rock-type (Double Super Effective boost). Therefore, you should use Rampardos (Smack-Down, Rock Slide), Tyranitar (Smack-Down, Stone Edge), Rhyperior (Smack-Down, Rock Wrecker), among others. Other alternatives are Water-type (Kyogre), or Electric-type (Zekrom, Raikou, Electivire).
