In March 2020, Pokemon GO trainers are challenged to beat Giovanni, the leader of Team GO Rocket. Upon success, trainers will have the chance to catch the legendary pokemon, Shadow Entei.

But because of the Corona pandemic, the event is extended until April 2020. Finding Giovanni is a challenging task, even after obtaining a radar after completing the special research task, you are not guaranteed to find the real Giovanni.

Most of the time, you will encounter Decoy Grunt or Giovanni’s subordinate that is in disguise to trick trainers. When you find the real Giovanni, be prepared to fight his pokemon army!

The first pokemon Giovanni uses is Persian. Since the introduction of Giovanni, Persian is an irreplaceable pokemon that Giovanni always uses in a battle.

Persian is a Normal-type Pokemon, so make sure to use Fighting-type pokemon or Fighting-type attacks. The recommended pokemon you can use are Melmetal (Superpower), Machamp (Counter, Cross Chop), Conkeldurr (Counter, Dynamic Punch), or Lucario (Counter, Power Up Punch). Remember, Giovanni will use Shield to counter your first two charge moves.

After beating Persian, the second pokemon Giovanni uses is either Kingler, Steelix, or Rhyperior. Use Grass-type or Electric-type pokemon such as Venusaur (Razor Leaf/Vine Whip, Frenzy Plant) and Electivire (Thunder Shock, Wild Charge) to fight Kingler, a Water-type pokemon.

If Steelix comes out, you can use Fighting pokemon such as Lucario (Counter, Power Up Punch) and Machamp (Counter, Dynamic Punch) since Steelix is a Ground & Steel type pokemon. If Rhyperior comes out, use Water-type or Grass-type pokemon such as Kyogre (Waterfall, Surf) and Meganium (Vine Whip/Razor Leaf, Frenzy Plant). Rhyperior has a double weakness to Water & Grass-type attacks.

The last pokemon Giovanni will use is Shadow Entei. The Legendary Fire-type pokemon Giovanni’s third pokemon. Entei is weak to Water, Rock, and Groud-type attack. So, use Kyogre (Waterfall, Surf), Swampert (Mud Shot, Hydro Cannon/Earthquake), Rhyperior (Mud Slap/Smack Down, Rock Wrecker), or Groudon (Mud Shot, Earthquake) to fight it.
