Niantic has released a new Mega Evolution form in Pokemon GO. Starting from the Halloween Event 2020, Mega Venusaur in Raid Battles has been replaced by Mega Gengar. Coinciding with the Spooky & Dark Halloween theme, Mega Gengar can be obtained for you to add to your Pokedex Collection.

As you already know, to get a Mega Evolution, you will need the Mega Energy of that Pokemon. You can acquire Mega Gengar Energy from Timed Research, Special Research, and of course, Mega Raid Battles. You will need 200 Mega Energy for the first Mega Evolution, and less for subsequent evolutions.

Mega Gengar has 65,215 CP as a Mega Raid Boss. Thus, you will need to team up with other players to defeat it.

Two Trainers with the right Pokemon counters and maxed out power can do the job just fine, but it’s highly advised to get as many players in your team to win the battle as quickly as possible and get more Mega Energy bonuses.

Mega Gengar is of the Ghost & Poison-type, so it’s vulnerable against Dark, Ghost, Ground, & Psychic-type attacks. You can use Pokemon along the lines of Darkrai, Giratina Origin, Mewtwo, Groudon, Landorus, etc. Don’t forget to use the proper movesets to counter Mega Gengar.

Once you have successfully defeated Mega Gengar, it will transform into Gengar, and then you can catch it. It’s max CP is 1,644 (at level 20) or 2,055 (at level 25) during cloudy/foggy weather boost.

Gengar’s Fast Moves are Hex, Shadow Claw, and Sucker Punch. While its Charge Moves are Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, and Sludge Bomb. During the Halloween event, Gengar will have a unique Halloween costume for you to collect.

Now, once you have had enough Mega Gengar Energy, you can Mega Evolve your Gengar. Gengar’s Shiny form has a stunning white color. Mega Gengar will last for 8 hours in normal condition and will turn into its normal form after that.
