If you have two GTA 5 accounts on two different platforms, on Steam and Epic Games, then you’ve probably had to install two GTA 5 files on your PC that takes up to 180 GB of memory on your hard-disk.

On this occasion, we’re gonna discuss how to merge those two files with the purpose of saving up your storage space, as well as to allow us to play GTA 5 on both platforms, Steam and Epic Games.

Be sure to follow these steps to get rid of any installation issues that might occur to you.

Install Epic Games’ version of Grand Theft Auto 5 at Steam’s install location. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common. Make sure you install it under Common.

If you did it correctly, then a new folder named GTAV will appear, which is a designated “GTA 5” folder for Epic Games Launcher. Whereas Steam will only read the “Grand Theft Auto V” folder.

After about a minute, cancel the GTA 5 installation on Epic Games. Then, open the folder where we installed GTA 5, which is under the “Common” folder in the Steam Library directory.

Delete the “GTAV” folder, rename the “Grand Theft Auto V” folder to “GTAV”. Then continue installing GTA 5 on the Epic Games Launcher.

If you’ve already installed GTA 5 on Steam, then Epic Games won’t need to re-download the 90GB file. At this point, Epic Games will only verify the files in the folder and download a few files required for Epic Games to be able to read GTA 5 in the folder.

At this point, you should be able to run Epic Games’ version of GTA 5 without having to download the 90GB file. However, Steam won’t be able to read the GTAV folder and will assume that GTA 5 isn’t installed on your computer.

Now, in order for Steam to be able to read the GTA 5 game, you’re gonna need to make a new batch file to rename the “GTAV” folder to “Grand Theft Auto V” and vice versa every time we run the batch file.

Making the batch file itself is quite easy as well. You’re just gonna need to open Notepad, and copy-paste the commands below. After that, make sure that you save the batch file as “GTA Steam Epic.bat”, not “GTA Steam Epic.txt”. And save the file under Common.

If you’ve changed the Steam install location, make sure to change the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" section, and adjust it to your exact install location. For example: E:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common.

Steam & Epic Games’ Accounts Verification

Each time you want to switch accounts, you need to verify the game files according to the account that you’re about to use. If you want to play your Epic Games’ account, then you need to verify the GTA 5 file on Epic Games Launcher. The same goes for your Steam account.

Now, to verify the game file on Epic Games, you need to open Epic Games Launcher. Then open the Library tab, click on the three dots next to “Grand Theft Auto V”, and select Verify.

As to verify the game file on Steam, it’s almost the same as before. First off, right-click on “Grand Theft Auto V” and select Properties. Then, open the Local Files tab and select Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Well, those were the easy steps to merge two GTA 5 accounts on Steam and Epic Games into a single directory. Of course, you’re gonna need to verify the game file for each time you switch between accounts, but, this way, you can save up to 90GB of storage space on your hard-disk.
