Amidst His Career Ups and Downs, ONIC Kairi Once Considered Returning to the Philippines

As quoted by All Star Magazine (Philippines), Kairi revealed that he had often considered returning to the Philippines. However, he ultimately always considered competing in the M-Series with ONIC ID. "Yes, quite often, I find myself thinking about it. Of course, I end up thinking about the M-Series," Kairi said, as quoted by All Star Magazine.

"Ah, not really often-actually, just sometimes," he said. Kairi also added that one of the moments when he considered returning to the Philippines and possibly pursuing a career there was after he lost at the MSC Esports World Cup. "Maybe after we lost at the MSC during the EWC," Kairi added. Although Kairi had considered returning to the Philippines, he admitted that he had not encountered any problems during his career in Indonesia because ONIC treated him well. "My career in Indonesia has been good, and ONIC Indonesia has treated me well," he explained.

ONIC's Kairi Was Offered Indonesian Citizenship, Twice!

Kairi continued by discussing how he felt when he competed against fellow Filipinos and the Filipinos weren't "that" supportive of him. He said he didn't think much of it because, if he were in that position, he would also support the Filipino team. This happened when Kairi and ONIC ID faced Team Liquid PH in the Lower Bracket Round 1 of the M7 World Championship.

"It's okay, because if I were watching in the Philippines, I would also support Team Liquid Philippines since I'm Filipino too. I don't let it affect how I play," Kairi said. An interesting fact was then revealed: Kairi had actually been offered Indonesian citizenship. Not just once, but twice. "I didn't want to. I didn't want to represent solely Indonesia," Kairi said.

Kairi also mentioned that throughout his career at ONIC, there might have been offers, even from teams from the Philippines. Ultimately, he chose not to think about them. "As far as I know, there are offers, but they aren't relayed to me, and I don't ask about them either," Kairi said. "As far as I know, there was an offer - maybe last season," he confirmed.

ONIC Kairi Chooses to Stay in Indonesia for Family and Teammates

Kairi's choice to stay and pursue a career in Indonesia, far from his home in the Philippines, was not without good reason. Kairi revealed that the reason he continued pursuing his career in Indonesia was to improve his family's standard of living, or in other words, to help his family financially. "First of all, because of the money —because I want to improve my family's life. That's the main reason," Kairi explained, as reported by All Star Magazine.

Finally, the second reason Kairi is "confused" about returning to the Philippines is because his friends and management have been so kind to him. "I honestly don't know, ONIC treats me really well. If only I could split my body into two! I don't want to leave them either, because my teammates and the organization have treated me so well," he concluded.

As of today, only Kairi knows when he will return "home" to the Philippines and what his career future holds.
