Becoming the champion of MPL Philippines Season 15 (MPL PH S15) is a great success for Team Liquid PH (TLPH) this season. The Cavalry managed to reclaim the title in this odd season and win a ticket to the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2025 Esports World Cup. In the previous year, Team Liquid PH also managed to become the champion of MPL PH S13 and advanced to the MSC 2024 Esports World Cup.

Team Liquid PH's journey this season has been quite good. After experiencing ups and downs in performance, the presence of Kiel "OHEB" Soriano aka "The Filipino Sniper" in The Cavalry brought new strength. Team Liquid PH has transformed into a 'Super Team' that is ready to compete with other great powers.

Team Liquid PH's success in reclaiming the title also ended the dominance of one of their competitors, ONIC Philippines. After winning MPL PH S14, M6 World Championship and ESL Snapdragon Mobile Masters, ONIC PH has truly surpassed TLPH in popularity.

However, despite Team Liquid PH's success in achieving glory this season, there is an interesting story about how OHEB initially joined The Cavalry. What made 'The Filipino Sniper' interested in strengthening the Blue Horse in MPL Philippines Season 15 (MPL PH S15)?

The Story of OHEB Joining Team Liquid PH: Trial and Bringing Positive Impacts to the Team

Long before MPL PH S15 started, we all know that OHEB was seen at Team Liquid PH's Gaming House (GH) during Jungler Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's livestreaming session. Speculation about OHEB joining TLPH then emerged until he was finally announced.

Reported by SPIN PH media, Team Liquid PH General Manager, Mitch Liwanag stated that the beginning of OHEB joining the team was when the team announced that they would conduct player recruitment or trials. When OHEB's journey with Blacklist International ended after 4 years, he then tried to join Team Liquid PH to replace Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales.

"We announced (we would) trial (players), we were looking for a Gold Laner. Actually, OHEB's name came up. Coincidentally, this (TLPH) was the first team for him after he started again. He had been (with) the Blacklist team for almost how many years," said Mitch Liwanag.

"He (OHEB) then underwent a trial and said 'I really want to join' but he was still under contract with Blacklist. (But) Blacklist was very kind, they wanted to give OHEB to us without doing a buyout," added Liwanag.

The end of OHEB's journey with Blacklist International also marked the end for The Agents in MPL PH last February. As a player who has won MPL 3 times and has been the M3 world champion, there should be no doubt about OHEB. However, Mitch Liwanag had second thoughts.

"We saw the potential he had. Sanford and Jaypee even recommended him to me. They said OHEB was a tough player, then I told them 'okay, I'll do a background check first'," he said.

"There were some less than good responses to him (OHEB). I said 'let's give OHEB a chance, maybe that's not true'," he explained.

Furthermore, Liwanag said that when OHEB was given the chance, he promised to change. This was later proven by him (OHEB) where together with Team Liquid PH, OHEB became a more mature figure and no longer portrayed himself as a naughty figure in the team.

“When Kiel (OHEB) came to us he told me one thing ‘he will leave all his immaturity behind’ and it was proven. Kiel is a very mature figure here at TLPH. (I think) Kiel is unique, I said ‘why do you have to be a naughty figure when you can be a very good and respected figure,” explained Liwanag.

“When he participated in the trial, he was really amazing. His performance was very good during the trial, we never lost. He is also a cheerful figure, although when I listened to them practicing I didn’t understand at all they were joking around a lot. He (OHEB) can improve the team’s playing mood,” he said.

Finally, Liwanag thanked OHEB for his contribution and dedication to Team Liquid PH’s struggle in MPL PH S15 until they became champions and advanced to the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup. According to Liwanag, OHEB’s presence has been a positive influence on the team and he is a good emotional leader.

"I thank Kiel (OHEB). Thank you for trusting us. The team has changed a lot because Kiel is one of the emotional leaders in the team and he is not a bad influence," he concluded.
