Chainsaw Man Director Leaves MAPPA, Announces His Own Studio!
After officially parting ways with MAPPA, Chainsaw Man director Ryu Nakayama announced a new anime studio he founded.

Chainsaw Man anime director Ryu Nakayama has officially left MAPPA and confirmed that he is currently founding a new animation studio separate from MAPPA. This announcement was made via the X/Twitter account. This new animation studio called Andraft was officially introduced by Nakayama on January 6, 2024.
Through a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nakayama announced the establishment of his new animation studio, Andraft Co., Ltd. "We are pleased to announce the establishment of Andraft Co., Ltd. Our goal is to build a better animation production framework and provide high-quality works to audiences worldwide without genre restrictions. We look forward to meeting challenges and opening up new possibilities. We sincerely look forward to your support!"
Furthermore, Andraft also released a short trailer which is the result of a collaboration between VSPO and Cardfight!! Vanguard, which gives fans a glimpse into the animation studio's art style and the overall quality of their animation. Let's look forward to further work from Andraft in the future.
This short animated video is a preview of the animation quality of the anime studio as a whole. Meanwhile, in the video, the storyboard and video direction were done by Ryu Nakayama himself. This is one of Andraft's early projects that shows potential. Now that we've taken a quick look at their work, let's take a closer look at some of Ryu Nakayama's past works.
The former Chainsaw Man director also worked on Black Clover. He worked on the anime's first ending theme soundtrack and directed the ending, providing key animation. He also directed Rising of Shield Hero and created storyboards, providing the main animation for episode 16 of the series. Seeing this quite interesting track record, many fans are looking forward to the future work of Andraft Studio in working on upcoming anime.
