Charles Martinet Legendary Mario Voice Actor Crowned as Mario Ambassador

Nintendo announced via Twitter on Monday, August 21st 2023, that Charles Martinet will be stepping down from his role as the voice of Mario and other characters. He will transition into a new role dubbed the "Mario Ambassador."
The Nintendo company explained that Martinet would "continue traveling the world, sharing Mario's joy, and interacting with everyone." Nintendo also plans to post a special video message from Charles Martinet and Mario creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, at a future date.
Charles Martinet has long been the iconic voice of characters in the Super Mario Bros. video game franchise. owned by Nintendo, including Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and many others. His first role as the voice of Mario began in 1991 when he played the face of Mario in 3D on a screen talking to visitors to a trade show event.
After that, he voiced the character in several smaller game titles before eventually becoming the main voice of Mario in big games such as Super Mario 64 in 1996. Charles Martinet continued to voice Mario and other characters in various main games and spin-offs for years.
Although Charles Martinet did not voice Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, he has a cameo role as Giuseppe who utters the word "Woohoo!" typical Mario in the movie, as well as Mario's father.
Additionally, Charles Martinet has also ventured into the world of anime and manga with his role as Magenta in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the second anime movie in the Dragon Ball Super franchise.
