People now focus on COVID-19 after the outbreak and make our daily activity disrupted. Even recently, President Jokowi made a Work From Home (WFH) policy to suggest that all individuals do their activities from home.
As a result, the productivity of several companies might be shaken up because of the WFH system.
Not just companies, esports events that have been planned are also affected. Several events that are supposed to be offline, now become online. Even if the event keeps on going offline, then it needs a permit, but getting that permit is going to be tough -- knowing that President Jokowi already made a WFH policy.
Rezaly Surya Afhany, Telskomsel Esport Manager, worries about the esports events that become offline. Although it’s planned to be offline, the PR coverage is also affected.
“I’m worried about the performance of offline events on game and esports community. Even if it’s designed with precise detail and to be fancy, at the end of the day, the PR coverage will still be affected.”
This is the reason why Bang Jaly takes advantage of a digital campaign and optimizing the online platform, including the linear channel. The effect, more cost for the organizer.
“We need to use a digital campaign and optimizing the online platform more, including the linear channel. Meaning more cost for the organizer.”
Even when this problem comes to the surface, Bang Jaly paid his respect to the publisher, 3rd party exhibitor, crew/talent, and esports organizer that obeys the government policy and holds a closed-event and prioritize safety.
“Regardless, I have a high amount of respect to the publisher, 3rd party exhibitor, crew/talent, and esports organizer that obeys the government policy and hold a closed-event and prioritize the safety of the players and the stakeholders.”
He hopes that esports enthusiasts to be patient and have empathy with the virus outbreak. He also stated that online matches are just as exciting.
“I hope that esports enthusiasts that always watch games or Grand FInal live on the spot can stay patient and willing to watch the games online since it’s just as exciting and safer.”
To close the article, he also asks the community to be more aware and thinks that the tragedy will pass soon. With the outbreak, Bang Jalu thinks that everybody involved in the esports world can learn to face every obstacle. Long live Indonesia esports!
