Gaimon is a unique character in One Piece who first appeared in the Warship Island filler arc. He is a former pirate who was accidentally trapped inside an empty treasure chest for 20 years after falling into it while trying to retrieve treasure.

During his entrapment, Gaimon lived on a small island filled with strange and rare animals. He protected the island and its animals from treasure hunters. Despite his simple and limited life, Gaimon is a dedicated and kind-hearted figure.

Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates met him early in their adventure, and Luffy even invited him to join them, but Gaimon declined, wanting to continue protecting the island and its animals. Although his role was minor, Gaimon has become a symbol of choosing happiness and purpose in life over wealth or fame.

Furthermore, Buggy once invited him to join his crew after a previous disagreement with Gaimon. Ironically, Gaimon was once invited to sail with two future Yonkou.
