Fans of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe can rejoice with the announcement of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, an all-new anime that builds upon the world introduced in the critically acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022). Rather than continuing David's journey, this new project shifts focus to another corner of Night City, offering a different narrative angle and introducing new characters.

Directed by Kai Ikarashi who previously contributed to SSSS.Gridman and the first Edgerunners this marks his full directorial debut. Returning as showrunner and story writer is Bartosz Sztybor, with lead character designs once again crafted by the vibrant hand of Kanno Ichigo (Promare). The screenplay adaptation is being handled by Masahiko Otsuka, known for his work on Gurren Lagann.

Speaking at Anime Expo 2025, Sztybor emphasized that while David’s arc has concluded, Night City remains full of untold stories. He described Edgerunners II as a raw, emotionally grounded tale of redemption and revenge something that stands apart from its predecessor in tone and narrative ambition.

Attendees at the “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Behind the Scenes With its Creators” panel were treated to an exclusive, behind-closed-doors preview of teaser footage, shared later during TRIGGER’s special presentation.
