The official website for the Persona franchise revealed on Friday, March 17, 2023, that Chinese game developer Perfect World is developing the smartphone game Persona 5: The Phantom X. Persona 5: The Phantom X will be available for free to play, but will provide optional in-game purchases. Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Atlus and Sega stated that the release region for the game had not yet been decided, including in Japan.

Fyi, Persona 5 was released for PS4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan in September 2016. The game also launched in North America in April 2017 after experiencing a delay. This game features an anime-style animation from Production I.G.

A 26-episode anime series based on the game premiered in April 2018 and ran through September 2018. Aniplex of America streamed the series, alongside its run on the streaming platforms Crunchyroll and Hulu. Two specials then aired in December 2018 and March 2019.

The role-playing game titled Persona 5 Royal (Persona 5 The Royale in Japan) launched for PS4 in Japan in October 2019. This game also launched in America and Europe in March 2020.

Persona 5 Strikers (Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers) was released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan in February 2020. The game launched for PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam in western countries in February 2021.
