Shocking news came from the Malaysian competitive esports scene, with one of the most prominent teams, TODAK, officially discontinuing its entire esports division after eight years. As one of Malaysia's leading teams, TODAK had teams in various competitive disciplines, from MOBA to Battle Royale, FPS, and even eFootball. The news of TODAK's esports division's disbandment came as quite a shock at the end of 2025.
Many people may know TODAK only as a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team. They have been a member of the MPL Malaysia league from its inception until now. Most recently, TODAK participated in MPL Malaysia Season 16 and failed to advance to the playoffs. Poor results spread throughout other divisions, leading to the disbandment of TODAK's esports division. TODAK will embark on a new journey in the gaming and esports industry starting in 2026.
TODAK Esports Division Disbands, Management Issues Official Statement
As previously mentioned, TODAK has several teams in various competitive disciplines. In addition to MLBB, TODAK also has a Free Fire (FF) division, which has competed in the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) SEA for some time. Furthermore, TODAK also has a PUBG Mobile (PUBGM) division, which competes in the PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL), Valorant, which has competed in the VCT MYSG, and eFootball.
Not only is the team dominated by men, TODAK also empowers women's teams in its esports division, specifically in MLBB. In the MLBB realm, TODAK has several impressive achievements, winning three MPL Malaysia seasons: Seasons 6, 9, and 11. TODAK has also been runner-up in MPL Malaysia Seasons 4, 7, 8, and 10. Its most recent best finish was third place in Season 14.
Todak also finished third in the international M1 World Championship. Meanwhile, in the M2 and M3 World Championships, they finished in 5th-6th place before finally finishing 9th-12th in the M4 World Championship. TODAK no longer competed at the MLBB World Championship level from M5 to M6. Their popularity waned over time, with less significant achievements.
Finally, TODAK's Esports division disbanded on December 24, 2025. This was announced via their Instagram page. "With this, the entire Todak Gaming team is officially closed. This is not an easy decision, but every journey has a point. For 8 years, Todak has been built through effort, trust and commitment that never compromises. The trust of players, staff, comrades and all of you who have been loyal to us from the first day to this day. Every second that passes, on stage and behind the scenes, will always be a part of Todak Gaming's history,"
"Thank you for choosing to believe. Thank you for never stopping supporting. Without you, this journey would be meaningless. 8 very valuable years. 8 years that we will carry as a legacy. We are signing off, with gratitude, pride and respect, Todak Gaming," wrote TODAK management. Thank you all for your efforts so far, TODAK. Good luck for the next journey in the Esports and Gaming industry.
