The official website for the anime adaptation of Q Hayashida's Dorohedoro manga announced on Tuesday, January 9th 2024 that the Dorohedoro anime will continue its adventures with a sequel in the form of a streaming series, and released a visual teaser to spark the anticipation of fans.
For information, the first version of the Dorohedoro anime first aired on Netflix Japan in January 2020 with a duration of 12 episodes. Netflix then aired the series outside Japan in May 2020.
Viz Media, the publisher of the manga in English, describes this story in its first volume: In a dark city known only as "the Hole," a clan of witches has been kidnapping people off the streets to use as guinea pigs in cruel "experiments". In a dark alley, Nikaido finds Caiman, a man with a reptilian head and severe amnesia.
To undo the spell, they hunt down and kill the witches in the Hole, hoping they will finally kill the right one. But when En, the head Wizard, hears about a lizard man slaughtering his people, he sends a "clean-up" crew to the Hole, sparking a war between the two worlds.
Director Yuichiro Hayashi (Garo the Animation, Garo: Divine Flame, Kakegurui) is helming this Dorohedoro anime project at studio MAPPA, with Hiroshi Seko (Banana Fish, Mob Psycho 100, Vinland Saga) in charge of the series composition. The character designs were done by Tomohiro Kishi (91 Days, Garo -Vanishing Line-), and the music was composed by [K]NoW_NAME (Sakura Quest, Fairy gone).
Dorohedoro, a dark and unique anime, will continue its story in its sequel, and provide fans with more magic from a world of mystery and darkness.
