Toei Animation is celebrating 40 years since Akira Toriyama's legendary manga Dragon Ball first debuted by bringing an eagerly anticipated new original anime series, Dragon Ball DAIMA. The series will begin airing with subtitles on Crunchyroll on October 11, 2024, and will be available worldwide, including in Indonesia. New episodes will be released weekly alongside their broadcast in Japan.

Dragon Ball DAIMA

Dragon Ball DAIMA brings back beloved characters like Goku and his friends, but this time with an intriguing twist. Due to a mysterious conspiracy, they are transformed into small versions of themselves and must explore the previously unknown Demon World. The series also introduces new characters such as Glorio and Panzy, who will join Goku and Supreme Kai in their exciting adventures.

Directed by Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki, the series features character designs by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and scripts by Yuko Kakihara. Adding to its distinction, the opening theme song “Jaka Jaan” is created by Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd, along with vocal contributions from the duo CLIEVY and KEEN from C&K. The lyrics are written by Yukinojo Mori, known for his work on iconic Dragon Ball songs like “CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA” and “Limit Break x Survivor.”

The introduction of Dragon Ball DAIMA at New York Comic Con 2023 generated tremendous excitement among fans. The series marks a new milestone in the Dragon Ball universe, celebrating the major achievement of the manga first published in Weekly Shonen Jump by Shueisha in 1984, which has since sold 260 million copies worldwide.

With the arrival of Dragon Ball DAIMA, the Dragon Ball franchise now includes six episodic series: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Dragon Ball Super. Additionally, there are 21 feature films, various mobile and video games, and a continuously expanding catalog of licensed merchandise.
