Digital Happiness has once again stirred excitement among horror game fans with the official announcement of DreadOut 3. Partnering with Soft Source Publishing, the third installment of this beloved Indonesian horror series aims to deliver a darker and more emotionally driven supernatural journey.
Rather than simply continuing from where the last game left off, DreadOut 3 appears to spotlight Linda’s emotional evolution. Now portrayed as a more mature character, Linda is seen performing a mysterious ritual in the latest trailer an act that seemingly triggers the chilling events that follow. This narrative shift suggests the series is embracing more psychological and character-focused storytelling.
Gameplay-wise, the game retains its signature mechanics, such as using the Iris Phone to reveal hidden apparitions. However, the visuals have received a noticeable upgrade. While not radically different, the enhancements in character detail, environmental assets, and lighting make the atmosphere more immersive. The combination of third-person and first-person perspectives further amplifies the tension as players explore haunted locales.
A highlight of the series remains intact: the seamless blend of Indonesian cultural settings with eerie, otherworldly dimensions. Shifting time cycles from morning to night add variety to exploration, while puzzle elements encourage creative problem-solving amid the horror.
Longtime fans will also appreciate Linda’s return to her classic hairstyle from the first game a subtle nod to the original title that adds a nostalgic touch while still feeling contemporary. Her more grounded characterization opens the door for richer emotional arcs.
DreadOut 3 is slated for a PC release in 2026, though an exact launch date has yet to be confirmed. What is certain, however, is that the game’s release will follow the debut of GTA VI. For those eager to dive into the next ghostly adventure, DreadOut 3 is already available to wishlist on Steam.
