Band Rock band KANA-BOON announced that they will stop all their activities for the remainder of 2023. The announcement also stated that drummer Takahiro Koizumi and guitarist Hayato Koga would leave the group after their agencies decided to terminate their contracts. All of the band's appearances and performances for the remainder of 2023 have also been cancelled.

The announcement on KANA-BOON's official website refers to a report investigated by the agency a few days ago. News Post Seven, a tabloid website, reported on December 7th 2023 that drummer Koizumi was involved in a relationship with an underground idol in his 20s. When the idol became pregnant last year, they had an abortion.

The report stated that Koizumi distanced himself after the pregnancy, claiming to be unable to support the child or pregnant mother due to his agency's limitations. Koizumi was also accused of taking months to reimburse the cost of the abortion after initially promising it, and only paying after being told it would be reported to the authorities.

KANA-BOON confirmed that Koizumi told the agency that the report was mostly true. After discussions, the agency and Koizumi agreed to terminate Koizumi's contract and membership in the band.

At the same time, the agency also stated that they had long received reports of bad behavior by guitarist Hayato Koga. After discussions with Koga, the agency decided that it would be difficult for him to remain in the band, so Koga's contract was also terminated, and Koga left KANA-BOON.

Regarding the band's planned activities starting in 2024, the agency stated that they will continue to hold discussions to find ways to continue activities without embarrassing fans and will make further announcements in the future. The remaining members in the band are Maguro Taniguchi and Masami Endo.

KANA-BOON was formed in 2008 when the members were still in school and released their first single in 2013. They have produced six studio albums and contributed theme songs for various famous anime such as Naruto Shippuden, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron- Blooded Orphans, and more.

Previously, bassist Yuma Meshida left the band in 2019 due to mental health problems, and vocalist and guitarist Maguro Taniguchi took time off in October 2020 due to poor physical health.
