Despite presenting their best roster in MPL ID Season 17, EVOS's journey hasn't been entirely smooth. So far, EVOS has managed two wins and three losses, placing them in seventh place through week three. The addition of Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel to the team hasn't had a significant impact on the Blue and White Tigers. EVOS appears to be still trying to find the right rhythm, or is currently experiencing some internal issues that are hindering them.
EVOS continues to strive for good results in MPL ID Season 17. Pheww's arrival in week two didn't completely smooth Erlan and his teammates' quest to dominate MPL ID Season 17. Pheww's presence didn't immediately lead EVOS to victory; instead, they stumbled several times before finally achieving their best result. What are EVOS's problems in MPL ID Season 17? How did Pheww respond to the less-than-stellar debut?
Pheww Reveals EVOS's Issues in MPL ID Season 17: Language Barriers Remain
Pheww's debut began when EVOS faced Alter Ego in the second week of MPL ID Season 17. EVOS managed to secure a point. However, they were defeated by El Familia with a score of 1-2. The following day, EVOS suffered another defeat to Bigetron by Vitality with a score of 1-2, with Pheww in the team's lineup. Ultimately, EVOS, along with Pheww, secured their first victory when they defeated Natus Vincere (NaVi) 2-0 in week three.
In an exclusive interview with Dunia Games (DG), Pheww explained that EVOS's poor results were due to communication issues within the team. "I think there's still a problem in our communication, especially when I want to say something complicated I cannot speak it in basic bahasa. Because I already know like basic Bahasa comms for the game," Pheww told Dunia Games (DG) exclusively.
"But when I want to say something complicated, I still find it hard. That's why I speak in English," he said. Pheww added that the difference between competing in MPL Indonesia and MPL Philippines is the language used. "I think the big difference for me, at first of course the language. I cannot communicate well at the start and since I'm still learning," Pheww added.
Furthermore, Pheww emphasized that there were no communication barriers at all when playing in MPL PH. "Playing with Filipino players, it's just the communication is always smooth," he concluded. It's interesting to hear Pheww state that he is still trying to adapt to Indonesian to make it easier to play with the other EVOS players in MPL ID Season 17. What do you think, guys? Will Pheww be able to easily understand Indonesian so he can communicate well with EVOS in the coming weeks? We'll just have to wait and see.
