The “Bloody Week” of MPL ID Season 17 Week 7 truly delivered massive surprises. The playoff race became even more brutal, several teams started losing direction, while others suddenly looked far more dangerous than before. However, in the middle of that chaos, one team stole the spotlight more than anyone else: EVOS Esports.

While many teams were still struggling to find consistency, EVOS arrived with a completely different identity. They did not just win games, but also showcased a gameplay evolution that made many viewers finally believe the legendary phrase “EVOS is Back” had become real once again.

Week 7 became a major turning point for the White Tigers. After experiencing inconsistent performances in Week 6, EVOS bounced back convincingly once Pheww returned to the starting lineup. The impact was immediate. EVOS secured two dominant 2-0 victories over RRQ Hoshi and Team Liquid ID.

What made these victories feel special was not simply the final score. The community’s main focus shifted toward EVOS’ gameplay transformation, which looked far more disciplined, structured, and completely different compared to the usual Indonesian playstyle seen earlier in the season.

Many analysts started noticing that EVOS had begun playing a macro-heavy style strongly associated with teams from MPL Philippines. They no longer played recklessly or forced unnecessary teamfights. Instead, EVOS looked much more patient and calculated in every decision they made.

This transformation suddenly turned EVOS into a serious upper bracket contender. They were no longer simply chasing a playoff ticket to Jakarta International Velodrome, but had now started aiming for the top two position currently occupied by Dewa United Esports.

EVOS Now Play Like an MPL PH Team

The biggest change shown by EVOS during Week 7 was their discipline. Looking at their matches against RRQ and TLID, EVOS’ gameplay felt completely different compared to previous weeks.

Indonesian teams are usually known for aggressive gameplay and nonstop teamfighting. However, EVOS showed an approach much closer to Filipino teams. They played neatly, carefully, and almost never forced fights without a clear advantage.

Their wave management looked far more organized. Their map rotations were also extremely disciplined. Even objective trades such as exchanging turrets for Turtle or Lord were executed calmly without panic.

Whenever RRQ or TLID tried to bait major teamfights, EVOS refused to take the bait immediately. Instead, they played patiently while strengthening their core heroes and slowly controlling the map.

This was what made EVOS’ gameplay feel extremely suffocating. Their opponents were constantly pressured without being given any room for a comeback. Step by step, EVOS secured objectives and expanded their lead until their enemies eventually ran out of options.

This transformation also made many fans believe EVOS had finally developed a new identity. They were no longer relying purely on individual mechanics, but had started functioning as a highly disciplined unit.

Pheww Became the Key Factor

Pheww’s return to the main roster apparently had a massive impact on EVOS’ gameplay. His presence made the White Tigers look significantly more stable than before.

It was not only about mechanics or hero pool flexibility, but also about calm decision-making. EVOS looked much more structured once matches entered the mid game and late game phases.

This became especially clear during their match against Team Liquid ID. EVOS barely allowed TLID to find any comeback momentum. Every Lord setup was executed carefully and with extreme discipline.

The frontline built by Luke also became a major factor. He consistently created space while maintaining EVOS’ formation during teamfights.

Meanwhile, EVOS’ damage dealers looked far more comfortable because they received maximum protection from the team’s cleaner system. Every player appeared to fully understand their responsibilities.

This is exactly why many analysts started calling Week 7 the “new face” of EVOS. They looked like a much more mature team compared to the beginning of the season.

EVOS vs DEWA Will Decide Everything

EVOS’ incredible Week 7 performance instantly made the standings race far more interesting. With a 7-6 record, EVOS had started threatening DEWA United’s second-place position at 8-4.

The decisive moment will happen on Week 8 Day 3 when EVOS face DEWA United directly. This match is no longer just about pride, but has become a battle for upper bracket positioning.

On paper, DEWA still hold the advantage. They also possess much higher upper bracket qualification odds compared to EVOS. However, the current momentum clearly belongs to the White Tigers.

DEWA United recently showed signs of inconsistency after losing 1-2 against Alter Ego in Week 7. On the other hand, EVOS’ performance graph has been rising sharply.

If EVOS can maintain their MPL PH-style macro gameplay, their chances of defeating DEWA become very realistic. They simply need to neutralize DEWA’s explosive early game aggression, which has become the team’s biggest strength throughout the season.

Of course, that task will not be easy. DEWA remain one of the deadliest early-game teams in MPL ID Season 17. They are capable of playing extremely fast and aggressively from the opening minutes.

That is why the EVOS versus DEWA United match is predicted to become one of the hottest clashes in Week 8. This battle will determine whether EVOS have truly returned as championship contenders, or whether DEWA are still too strong to overthrow.

One thing is certain: EVOS’ resurgence has made the MPL ID S17 playoff race much more exciting. If they continue playing with the same discipline shown in Week 7, the phrase “EVOS is Back” may finally become a huge reality by the end of the season.
