Shocking news came from RRQ Valorant coach, Marthinus "Ewok" Van der Walt, who officially left his position as head coach of Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) Valorant after Valorant Champions 2025 in Paris. Ewok's departure was certainly surprising, as throughout 2025, he had achieved several significant achievements for RRQ Valorant, both at the regional (Pacific) level and by qualifying for international tournaments.

With Ewok leaving his position as RRQ Valorant coach, it remains unclear what steps the management will take going forward, given that RRQ will be participating in several off-season events. Ewok's departure was truly surprising, but as a figure who played a major role in managing RRQ Valorant for the past three years, he had a strong reason.

Shocking! Ewok Resigns as RRQ Valorant Coach After Champions 2025

Some time ago, RRQ Valorant just returned from Valorant Champions 2025 in Paris, where they failed to advance to the playoffs after being eliminated by Brazilian team MIBR. Despite this, RRQ Valorant managed to record one win in their Champions League debut. It was a truly proud result, a truly remarkable experience for the King of Kings.

The 2026 season is still a long way off, but RRQ Valorant will begin their off-season tournament process at the end of 2025. Unfortunately, before RRQ entered the off-season, Ewok, as coach, decided to leave the team on Thursday, October 16, 2025. This announcement was made on Team RRQ's YouTube channel, explaining his reasons for leaving.

First, Ewok stated that 2025 was an extraordinary year, where he and RRQ Valorant achieved many things, including winning VCT Pacific 2025 Stage 1. He also mentioned that they qualified for Champions Paris and Masters Toronto. However, behind these significant achievements were many challenges and hard work behind the scenes.

Ewok stated that he and the players worked hard to continuously improve year after year, ensuring that every mission and result met his promises as coach. However, this sacrifice came at a cost to Ewok, including fatigue and a lack of balance in his life.

"Hello RRQ Kingdom! 2025 has been an incredible year for me and our team. Words cannot describe how proud I am of the team we've built and what we've achieved together. There have been many challenges this year, but through it all, we've made RRQ history by winning Stage 1," Ewok said.

“Qualified for Champions League and (Masters) Toronto. Unfortunately, we didn't get the results we hoped for. The past three years have been very challenging for me. There's been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, ensuring we improve year after year and consistently deliver the results I promised,” Ewok added.

“And all the effort over the past three years with RRQ has made my life unbalanced as I expected for myself. I've sacrificed a lot, everything for VALORANT—all for RRQ—to repay RRQ's immense service to me,” he explained. “To repay my promise of bringing trophies to RRQ and always improving.”

Although Ewok is now leaving his position as RRQ Valorant coach, he believes the upcoming 2026 competitive season will be a good year for the team. However, as a coach, he wasn't confident he could deliver maximum performance, and therefore, he chose to step down and take a break. Ewok has officially left his position as coach, and he will help the team find the right replacement.

"I believe the future of RRQ Valorant is still very bright, and 2026 will be a big year for the team. However, unfortunately, I'm in a position where I can't give the 100% I want to. I can't give 110%. So, I've decided to take a break from my coaching position for the 2026 season," he said.

"I will help RRQ find a new coach. To find the right person to take this team forward, because I believe there's still so much potential in this team. I will actively assist, helping the new coach integrate seamlessly into the team. And I wish this team the best for the future. Thank you for the trust you've placed in me, and for everything the fans have done for me," he concluded.
