Exynos 2400 Shows Better Gaming Performance than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
A YouTube video revealed the performance of Exynos 2400 on the Galaxy S24+ can compete with the Snapdragon on the Galaxy S24 Ultra by playing heavy mobile games
Gadget | 22 January
At first glance, the Exynos 2400 benchmarks in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series may seem to lag behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of raw processing power. However, recent real-world testing revealed that the Exynos 2400 is capable of putting up a surprising fight, even outperforming its rivals in some demanding gaming titles.
A YouTuber with the channel name NL Tech conducted exclusive testing with the Exynos 2400 on the Galaxy S24+ and Snapdragon on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. They played some heavy games using Samsung's Game Booster and enabling the "Alternate game performance management" setting, which can improve device performance at the expense of some heating.
The results of this test revealed several interesting things:
Genshin Impact
Both chips, both Exynos and Snapdragon, are capable of producing a stable 60 FPS in Genshin Impact. While there is some thermal throttling involved, this isn't all that surprising considering Genshin Impact is one of the most demanding smartphone games.
PUBG Mobile
Both chips in the Galaxy S24 series are capable of consistently hitting 90 FPS, but only on Smooth graphics settings. When switching to higher graphics settings, the highest frame rate option is 60 FPS for the Snapdragon-powered S24 Ultra and Exynos-powered S24 Plus. This shows that Samsung still has room to improve the performance of their devices in running PUBG Mobile.
PUBG New State
In PUBG New State, both phones support 90 FPS in Ultra graphics settings. However, the Extreme graphics option is not enabled on either, suggesting potential improvements via software updates.
Call of Duty: Mobile
The Snapdragon-powered S24 Ultra is capable of hitting 120 FPS smoothly, while the Exynos-powered S24+ is limited to 60 FPS.
Mobile Legends
Both phones run Mobile Legends at a stable 60 FPS, although the game isn't particularly demanding.
Fortnite
Both chips dipped to lows of around 70 FPS during battles in Fortnite, but ran at a respectable 90 FPS in other situations.
War Thunder
The most surprising thing is that the Exynos-powered S24+ managed to outperform the Snapdragon S24 Ultra in the game War Thunder which supports ray tracing. While both started with scores around 100 FPS, the Snapdragon chip saw a rapid drop to 40 FPS when in urban areas.
Overall, the Exynos 2400 shows truly surprising gaming performance. Not only was it able to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it even managed to outperform its rival in the War Thunder game. This gives Galaxy S24 owners around the world confidence that they can enjoy the best gaming performance.
Keep in mind that this testing was performed on pre-production hardware, so there may still be room for improvement through further software optimization. With FSR support that has the potential to further improve performance, the Exynos 2400 could be a very attractive choice for gaming fans around the world.
