Faker was born in Seoul on May 7, 1996, and his childhood was spent in Gangseo District, Seoul. In 2011, when League of Legends first appeared in Korea, Faker immediately immerse himself in the game and decided to leave school to pursue an esports career. His father supported his decision. Since then, Faker has become an icon and legend in the world of League of Legends.

Career Beginning
Faker, who was born on May 7, 1996 in Seoul, South Korea, entered the professional world of League of Legends in 2013 with SK Telecom T1 (now T1). He made his professional debut on April 6, 2013, under the initial nickname "GoJeonPa," and immediately gained attention by recording a solo kill against South Korean All-Star mid laner Kang "Ambition" Chan-yong.
Rookie Season (2013)
In his rookie season in 2013, Faker won the championship title at the OGN Champions Korea Spring and won the World Championship that season. In the World Championship finals, SK Telecom T1 2 (later known as SK Telecom T1 K) played Royal Club of China and won the match, creating a historic moment known as one of the most famous series of games in League of Legends history.
Fourth Worlds Championship
After the 2021 season, T1 underwent significant changes, but Faker remained with the team. In the 2022 season, in his tenth year as a pro player, Faker achieved an extraordinary milestone, becoming the first player in LCK history to reach 2,500 kills and 700 games.
In 2023, he won his fourth World Championship. making him the first player to win four world titles and, at 27, the oldest player to win one.
Career at the National Team
Faker also represented South Korea in esports at the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games. At the 2018 Asian Games, his team won a silver medal. Meanwhile at the 2022 Asian Games, Faker helped his team win a gold medal. Thanks to his extraordinary contribution to the country, Faker was exempted from military service by the South Korean government.
