15 Facts About Bakugo Katsuki from Boku no Hero Academia, the Loud-Mouthed Character
Fans of the series may already be familiar with Bakugo Katsuki’s raucous behaviors. Here are some facts about this character!
Anime & Manga | 11 October
Bakugo Katsuki is one of the most iconic characters in Boku no hero Academia. Fans may know him for his brash, aggressive tendencies. But, there is actually more about Bakugo than we can see from the anime.
On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to give you a list of fun facts about the hot-headed hero, Bakugo Katsuki. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
1. An Internee at the Endeavor Agency
The first half of the fifth season of My Hero Academia emphasizes the strength test in the Joint Training between students of Class 1A and 1B. The second half of the season pushes the heroes back into their respective work-study programs.
Bakugo's previous partner was Best Jeanist, but his departure led Bakugo to join Shoto and Midoriya in the Endeavor Hero Agency. Endeavor took time to open up to Bakugo, but he was very impressed with his commitment and capacity to learn. The two developed an understanding as Bakugo spent his time at the Endeavor Hero Agency.
2. One of the Last Students in 1-A To Receive the Provisional Hero License
In the series, there are several competent heroes who are not allowed to use their abilities as they don't have the proper qualifications yet.
Bakugo may be one of the strongest heroes, but he was actually one of the last students to actually earn the Provisional Hero License. The 100th episode of My Hero Academia marks Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki passing the test to finally serve as legitimate heroes.
3. Great with Children
Heroes should ideally be role models for children, but just because a person possesses superhuman abilities, that doesn't necessarily mean they can't build good relationships with young people. Bakugo is infamous for being short-tempered, so it's understandable to assume that he won't be good with children.
However, Bakugo's and Todoroki's initial trials put them face to face with a group of children. Bakugo turns into the younger version of himself in childhood when dealing with the children.
He wanted to help these children with his knowledge early in their lives so that they could avoid the same suffering he had to go through.
4. A Unique Yet Ridiculous Alias
My Hero Academia always highlights how every aspect of the heroes' images plays an important role in the public's perception of them. It's obviously important to have a powerful Quirk or be a member of a prestigious team, but the series also emphasizes how heroes' outfits and even their names.
Sometimes a hero's alias is the first thing people know about them and Bakugo doesn't squander this opportunity with a subtle moniker. Bakugo's moniker is "Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight", which certainly fits his explosive and fiery personality, yet it sounds comical.
5. Briefly Had The One-For-All Quirk
My Hero Academia features so many different heroes, but Izuku Midoriya often comes under fire as the successor of All Might's prized One For All quirk. Various villains have targeted Midoriya, either to gain this ability or to finish him for good and other Pro Heroes have emphasized that it's not a Quirk that comes easily.
My Hero Academia tells some of the epic and climactic stories of Heroes Rising involving Bakugo temporarily sharing Midoriya's One-For-All Quirk. The two dealt a tandem attack on Nine, which ended in his defeat, but one should not underestimate how important Bakugo was to helping Midoriya retain this Quirk.
6. Has an Interesting Hobby
According to his character profile in Volume 1 of the My Hero Academia manga, Bakugo has two very specific interests: mountain climbing and spicy food. Given his explosive Quirk, it's no surprise that Katsuki has an affinity for spicy food.
Mountain climbing may seem like an unexpected hobby to the fiery student, but it correlates with certain aspects of his personality. Bakugo loves challenges and mountain climbing is certainly a challenging outdoor activity.
7. Bakugo's Initial Character Design
Believe it or not, Bakugo was originally supposed to be a kind and compassionate character who would inadvertently come across as offensive or insulting as he would often say the wrong words.
Series creator Kōhei Horikoshi decided that the soft version of Bakugo was too boring and chose to make him downright annoying. The dynamic rage he exudes in every scene keeps the tension high throughout the anime.

8. The Oldest Student in Class 1-A
All the students in Class 1-A are within the same range of age, but Bakugo's birthday on 20 April makes him the oldest in his class by more than a month. Mashirao Ojiro, the second oldest student, was born on 28 May. Bakugo was already 16 when he first enrolled in the U.A. High while the others were 15 years old.
Although Mezo Shoji is the tallest character in Class 1-A, he is ironically the youngest of the bunch. His birthday falls in late February, which means that one of the most physically intimidating students is also the "baby" of the class.
9. A Great Cook
Katsuki's cooking skills are implied rather than overtly shown in the series, but if you read between the lines, there are some Gordon Ramsay references. This was fitting considering he had the same temperament as the Hell's Kitchen star.
Bakugo has excellent knife skills — a fact that is highlighted in both the anime and manga My Hero Academia when the students make curry.
10. Has Musical Talents, Especially in Drums
Although mountain climbing is a challenging hobby of his, fans may be more impressed by the fact that Bakugo can actually play the drums. This scene from the manga Boku no Hero Academia reveals that Bakugo is a talented musician and he manages to thrill his classmates with his drum solo.
His unpredictable musical talents may seem random or implausible at first glance, but Bakugo's aggressive emotions correlate with the intensity with that he plays the drum set in.
11. Kōhei Horikoshi Didn’t Expect Bakugo’s Popularity
Horikoshi was baffled by Bakugo's popularity. After all, he deliberately made this character unlikable. The series is filled with every imaginable personality and few could have predicted that the most conflicted student would become a fan favorite.
While Horikoshi expected the fans of the anime and manga series to hate the hot-headed character, his aggressiveness makes his interactions with Izuku Midoriya all the more interesting. Midoriya is the complete opposite of everything Bakugo exudes.
12. His Harsh Personality Is Based On Horikoshi's Other Creations
Oumagadoki Zoo is written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. Fans noted the similarities between the series and My Hero Academia. One of those similarities involves a character named Shishido, whose personality and behavior are very similar to Katsuki Bakugo.
Shishido is an arrogant lion who likes to fight and insult others, but his attitude changes as the story progresses. It is no coincidence that Shishido makes a brief cameo appearance in the My Hero Academia manga.
13. His Knee Pads Have an Actual Function
Bakugo's hero costume looks dramatic but has small details that fans hardly notice. The grenade bracelet stands out so much that fans are barely aware of the fact that he's wearing knee pads. Protecting his kneecap (from everything) might seem a bit silly, but the pads aren't included for defensive purposes.
Bakugo's knee pads are actually designed for offensive strategy, but he hasn't really made use of them.
14. Completely Different from His Father
Whereas Mitsuki and Katsuki are both hot-headed and brash, Masaru Bakugo is relatively calm and well-reserved. He loves his family dearly despite all of the differences between their personalities. However, he’s not entirely okay with his son’s bad temper.
Masaru disapproves of Bakugo’s arrogance but eventually supports his dream of becoming a pro hero. The family embodies the "like mother-like son" in every aspect, including their appearance — Kacchan certainly looks like his mother and even has the same hair.
15. He Always Has Nice Skin Like His Mother
Mitsuki Bakugo's Quirk gives her the ability to extract Glycerin from her skin. Glycerin basically works like a moisturizer, which is why her skin is always flawless and looks a lot younger than her actual age.
Kacchan's Explosion Quirk is a combination of his mother's Glycerin and his father's Acid Sweat, meaning that he has flawless skin for the rest of his life. It's also worth noting that he has more in common with Mitsuki than his father, which also includes his physical appearance.
