Movies | 22 July
Cyclops or whose real name is Scott Summers is the first official student of Charles Xavier's school. Cyclops himself has quite powerful powers such as the light from his eyes that can destroy adamantium, plus there are some surprising facts about him that can only be found in comics.
The Dunia Games team will discuss some facts about Cyclops, a member of the X-Men and is also the eternal rival of Wolverine. Let's see in more detail.
1. The First X-Men
Scott Summers is the first official student at Professor Xavier's school. His retcons have opposed this distinction for years, as in the comic version where Charles Xavier helped Jean Gray before the formation of the X-Men. Before meeting Summers, Xavier also recruited a mutant named Sage but she was not a member of the original team. Regardless, Summers was originally Xavier's first choice in the X-Men draft.
2. Wolverine’s Rival
In X-Men history, few rivalries have matched the intensity of the humiliation between Cyclops and Wolverine. The two heroes once had the wrong idea, and have hated each other ever since. These two also love Jean Grey, thus creating a competition for her affection, which also ruins any chance for Scott and Logan to get along. Besides affecting the team's performance, the conflict between the two top X-Men can actually cause divisions within the team.
3. Experiencing a Retcon on His Power
Cyclops is one of the many comic characters to go through various retcons. In particular, his optical burst energy source has been changed for the better. Initially, Scott could only absorb sunlight, like plants, and emit that energy in the form of optical explosions. However, once the authors realized that this resource limited the Cyclops' usability at night, his energy beam source changed drastically, and had an unlimited supply of energy in its optical burst.
4. Presuming His Father Died For Years
Scott believed that his father had died in an accident that had involved him. But in reality, Christopher Summers was actually only taken by the Shi'ar Empire, knowing that the two would be difficult to separate. So with that, the two were separated for years, which made Scott live without a father figure beside him. By the time they find each other, they live in different worlds. Scott grows up to become Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men, while Christopher becomes Corsair, a space pirate with the Starjammers.
5. Expert in Aiming
Scott's only obvious skill is his optical blast. Even though the explosion is very powerful, Summers makes it more efficient. Scott has become an expert at aiming and targeting his blasts, and even has a high level of understanding of trigonometry, which allows him to bounce his blasts off other surfaces. For the current Cyclops, the explosion is quite similar to Oliver Queen's arrow, which is that it never misses once.
6. His Optical Blast Can Beat Mr. Sinister
Mr. Sinister is a disgrace within the Summers family, it is because he has always been obsessed with his family's genes, and it makes him have to repeatedly try to get Summer's genes. He is one of the Marvel villains in X-Men who is quite strong, plus many crazy plans that always get the Summers family in trouble. But luckily there's Cyclops, one of the few heroes who can stop Sinister in some of his actions. With his optical explosion, Sinister often loses and feels no longer strong.
7. Died Due to Terrigen Mist
Inhumans vs. X-Men feature a war between the two most powerful races in the Marvel Universe. Both conflicts began with the X-Men knowing that the Terrigen Mist could bring down the mutant population, while the Inhumans needed it for the welfare of their race. In that battle, Cyclops did lose the battle with Black Bolt. However, in the following series, it is discovered that Scott is a victim of the Terrigen Mist, and Emma Frost manipulates everyone into believing that Summers is alive and well.
8. Bad at Teaching the Children
It's not Cyclops' fault that he's been a bad parent, but he's shown time and time again that he's a father who is at least capable. For starters, he once allowed several members of the Avengers to attack his son, Cable, coupled with failure and several threats. Scott's parental blunder came from his son's childhood, when Cyclops found out that Jean Gray was alive and well, he violently left his wife and newborn son.

9. Lost One Eye
Of course the name Cyclops refers to the one-eyed mythological character, but from Marvel he has absolutely nothing to do with associating the character with Greek mythology. However, there was at least one time Summers was like his nickname, which was that he only had one eye. That happened in "Age of Apocalypse", where Summers lost the battle with Wolverine. So the "edgy" version of the Cyclops grew his hair out to hide his missing eyes, so fans never really got to see the one-eyed Scott Summers.
10. Worked as a DJ
Once in a story, the entire X-Men team had to find work in the real world, because the FBI forced the X-Men to disband. Scott Summers chose a career that didn't suit his personality, in which he preferred to be a DJ. Unfortunately, Cyclops' career as a DJ didn't last long, but at least it was interesting enough and made an unforgettable impression.
11. His Body was Used by Apocalypse
Apocalypse is one of the most prominent and powerful rivals of the X-Men team. At one point, to spice up the competition, the creator combined his two characters in a Freaky Friday situation. In X-Men #97, Cyclops' body plays host to Apocalypse's mind, which obviously creates a lot of danger and threats. But in the end, the hybrid didn't last long, as Jean and Cable finally freed the Cyclops.
12. His Optical Explosion Can Destroy Adamantium
Adamantium is one of the strongest metals in Marvel comic books, and it was once considered indestructible in many ways. Wolverine's skeleton itself has fused with the metal, which makes it stronger and more unstoppable. But it has no effect on Cyclops, because the optical blast he has is able to destroy it, just like he did with Wolverine's hand when fighting him.
13. Created X-Force
The formation of the X-Force came from Cyclops, where the only goal of the group is to do the X-Men's dirty work. Everything about X-Force represents a stark shift in Summers' leadership philosophy. As Cyclops drifted away from Xavier's vision of a peaceful X-Men team, preferring instead to embrace a team that values survival above all else. Wolverine is known for his willingness, and despite his reluctance Scott decides to choose him to lead the team.
14. Having Complicated Romance with Multiple Women
Cyclops is not an admirable man when it comes to romance. He had cheated on Jean once, and didn't seem heartbroken when his ex-wife, Madelyne Pryor, met her end. Scott even tried to leave his wife and son to fulfill his obligations to the X-Men, even when Cyclops' main love interest turned to Emma Frost causing his behavior to change. He once lied about forgetting Jean and his feelings, thus sparking constant problems in his relationship with Emma.
15. Has a Gray Side of Heroism
Why? Because in recent years, he has fallen far from the peak of the mountain that he should be, that is, from the line of heroism as well as his evil. Towards the end of his existence, Scott has become like Magneto in his aggressive attitude and defense of the mutant type. He adopts a militaristic approach when it comes to enrolling children in the X-Men's struggle for mutant rights. So that it can be concluded that Wolverine is better than him.
