Games | 17 July
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is the latest game from Square Enix which will be released for mobile devices. Many fans of Final Fantasy VII have been waiting for the arrival of this game. On this occasion, the author would like to discuss various facts that you need to know about Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. Let’s see the discussion below!
1. Rewarded Closed Beta
Square Enix opened the closed beta stage for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis on July 8th 2023 yesterday. Currently, Square Enix has prepared a prize for closed beta participants, a login bonus in the form of a Blue Crystal that can be used to gacha weapons from each character.
Players can get up to 9000 Blue Crystals. Square Enix also allows participating players to take screenshots and share their playing experiences via video. There is also a co-op mode in this game although the number of players joining is limited.
2. Gameplay
Final Fantasy VII has an interesting gameplay. When in the map, the character's form will look chibi like the one in the original FFVII series. Meanwhile, when entering the battle, the character's body will look full. What's interesting is that this game doesn't lose the characteristics of the original series, where the characters do look chibi.
Due to the interesting gameplay and story, FFVII has successfully won a series of remakes released for PS4 and PS5. So far there have been 5 Final Fantasy VII games released by Square Enix, although one of them has closed the server, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. Which ones have you played yourself?
3. Battle Mode
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis combines retro graphics with modern, looking like a game that has two gameplays. The best graphics of this game can be seen when you enter the battle. The combat system from Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis uses a turn-based Active Time Battle (ATB).
Even though it still has a turn-based system, players must move as fast as possible when their turn comes or the opponent will steal their turn. Most Final Fantasy games also use this fighting system, including Final Fantasy VII. The graphics of the battles in this game are no less cool than FFVII Remake on PS4 and PS5. Yes, you could say the graphics are as good as console games.
4. Synopsis
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is a game that adapts events from other FFVII games, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII-, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, and Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier.
Because of that, the story might be different from the Final Fantasy VII that you have played on PS1. Because it's still in the Closed Beta stage, not much is known about this game. What is clear, at the beginning of the game you will play as Cloud who is in action in Midgar with his friends, just like at the beginning of the FFVII PS1 story.

5. Characters
There are more characters in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis than the original version. As explained above, this game adapts stories from various FFVII games so that it presents the characters in the game. There are main characters from FFVII The First Soldier and also other series that you can play.
The playable characters in this game include:
- Cloud Strife
- Barret Wallace
- Tifa Lockhart
- Aerith Gainsborough
- Red XIII
- Zack Fair
- Glenn Lodbrok
- Matt Winsord
- Lucia Lin
6. Problematic Development
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis was intended to be another remake of the original title, for players who like turn-based RPGs. During development, it was planned that all characters be rendered in 3D, but the development team realized this would be problematic when emulating the original game.
It was then that Lisa Fujise, who was working with Tetsuya Nomura on another project, came in to get approval for the character designs on that project. It so happened that his design style matched what they were looking for until the team asked him to join the Ever Crisis project.
7. Gacha System
Because it was developed for mobile devices, it is certain that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis also has a gacha system. Initially, you might be curious about what is presented in this gacha system. During the Closed Beta stage yesterday, many content creators revealed the gacha system from FFVII Ever Crisis.
Gacha in this game offers weapons from each playable character. The animation itself looks pretty cool. Cloud will appear to deal damage to the big monsters he faces. If he deals up to 77,777 damage, then you can be sure the player will get a 5-star weapon.
Those were the facts in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. This game is rumored to be released shortly after the Closed Beta stage ends. Stay tuned for further news from Square Enix's newest game!
