Mortal Kombat was the best live-action film released in 2021. Success with the first film, a sequel to Mortal Kombat is rumored to be coming soon. Moreover, some time ago, Sub-Zero actor, Joe Taslim had said that Mortal Kombat fans might see the character Noob Saibot. Joe even added that he hoped it would be because he definitely wanted to play the character.

In Mortal Kombat, Bi-Han or also Sub-Zero is told to transform his soul into Noob Saibot after he was killed by Scorpion. When Taslim played Bi-Han's version of Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat, it seemed natural that the character would also be Noob Saibot in the Mortal Kombat sequel. The news of Noob Saibot's appearance is also getting real, through Joe's interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he also expressed enthusiasm about the character's presence.

Now talking about Noob Saibot, let's learn some interesting facts about the Mortal Kombat character below.

1. The Origin of Noob Saibot’s Name

Hearing the name Noob Saibot might feel very unique, because it is different from the names of other Mortal Kombat characters. At first the name of the character Noob Saibot was taken from the two names of the creators of Mortal Kombat, namely Ed Boon and John Tobias. If you pay attention, the name "Noob Saibot" is taken from the last names of Ed Boon and John Tobias and then reversed and combined. Interestingly, Noob Saibot is the only Mortal Kombat character taken from the creator's last name.

2. Started as a Hidden Character

Noob Saibot first appeared as a hidden enemy character in Mortal Kombat 2 which was released in 1993. Seeing many fans who gave a positive response, Noob Saibot finally returned to the console version in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 which was released in 1996.

3. A Ghost That Comes Back to Life in Mortal Kombat

Noob Saibot is also a ghost who comes back to life in Mortal Kombat besides Scorpion. He was revived by Quan Chi and became a member of the cult Brotherhood of the Shadow. The existence of Noob Saibot who is present as a full character is also expanded through Mortal Kombat: Deception which was released in 2004. In which, Noob Saibot was finally revealed as Bi-Han aka Sub-Zero who came back to life after being killed by Scorpion.

4. Noob Saibot's goal

Noob Saibot's existence is nothing more than revenge for his previous defeat against Scorpion. Unlike Bi-Han, who is still Sub-Zero, Noob Saibot has become a very vile character. Along with the power of darkness that surrounds him, Noob Saibot can even create weapons from the shadows of darkness, even becoming invisible and teleporting.

5. Brother of Kuai Liang

After Bi-Han was defeated by Scorpion, the title of Sub-Zero was taken over by his successor, namely Kuai Liang. He is the younger brother of Bi-Han who is also a member of Lin Kuei. Knowing his brother had been killed, Kuai Liang decided to avenge his brother's death. But it turns out that he realized that his grudge was not against Scorpion, but Quan Chi. Kuai Liang finally tried to stop Quan Chi with Lin Kuei's army to avenge his brother's death.

But Kuai Liang finally met Noob Saibot who turned out to be Bi-Han. Just then, Kuai Liang tried to wake up  his brother, but darkness had enveloped him so he couldn't be stopped. The only way to stop and bring his brother back is to kill him so that his spirit rests.

6. Doesn't Like Being Called Ninja

In appearance, Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero are indeed similar to a ninja. Starting from the weapons used, to acting like an assassin. But neither Bi-Han nor Kuai Liang like being called a ninja. When someone calls them ninjas, they will immediately deny it. Because Lin Kuei comes from China, it's different from Shirai Ryu who actually comes from Japan.

7. Carries Two Weapons

Noob Saibot does have the ability to bring out weapons from the power of his shadow. However, Noob Saibot only used two weapons, including the Troll Hammer used in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Sickle in Mortal Kombat 11.

8. The First Person To Be Noob Saibot

Noob Saibot was first played by a former martial arts expert from the United States, namely Daniel Pesina. Daniel Pesina was recruited by Midway Games to play Scorpion in the making of Mortal Kombat. Not only Scopion, Daniel Pesina also plays the characters of Sub-Zero, and Johnny Cage.

9. Has the Ability to Cast Shadows

The next unique fact of Noob Saibot is his  ability to cast shadows. Even the shadow that it emits also has a name. If you have ever played Mortal Kombat 11 using Noob Saibot, you must have seen a shadow suddenly appear from his body. This shadow is actually not just an ordinary tool because it also has a name like its master.

10. Can't be Resurrected

Finally, Noob Saibot is indeed a ghost who rises again and lives eternally. But Noob Saibot can also be defeated and die. After death, Noob Saibot can't even be resurrected like Quan Chi's Revenant to serve Shao Kahn. The reason Noob Saibot can't be resurrected like other Mortal Kombat characters, is because Quan Chi was killed by Scorpion in Mortal Kombat X. So it's impossible to revive dead characters, including Noob Saibot.
