Maybe Sanji is known as one of the Monster Trio in the Straw Hat group besides Roronoa Zoro and Monkey D. Luffy, but he has lost several times in duels. Who are the opponents that Sanji failed to beat in a one-on-one match? Check out the following discussion!

1. Gin

Before joining the Straw Hats, Sanji had a chance to face Pearl, one of Don Krieg's subordinates in Baratie. Sanji managed to defeat Pearl, but he lost the fight against Gin, due to an injury he received when he fought Pearl.

But Gin didn't have the heart to finish off Sanji, the person who had fed him. He instead protected Sanji from the deadly gas shot by Krieg.

2. Arlong

While at Arlong Park, Sanji had a chance to fight against Arlong, but he lost due to an injury received from the fight against Kurobi. As a fishman, Arlong has 10 times greater strength than an ordinary human. Before being defeated by Arlong, luckily Sanji had time to help Luffy who was drowning.

3. Smoker

In the manga version, Sanji had a chance to face Smoker in Logue Town. At that time, Luffy and Sanji didn't understand how the Logia type devil fruit worked so they weren't able to win against Smoker.

With just one attack from Smoker's White Blow technique, Sanji was defeated by him, as well as Luffy. Luckily at that time Dragon came to help.

4. Enel

Sanji had met Enel several times while in Skypiea. Because he has not yet mastered Busoshoku Haki and he is not a rubber man like Luffy who is resistant to electricity, Sanji did not move at all when fighting Enel. Every time he meets Enel, Sanji ends up with a burnt body because he always gets an electric shock.

5. Vergo

In Punk Hazard, Sanji faced Vergo, one of Doflamingo's subordinates. Actually, the duel ended in a draw, but Sanji's leg felt sore after kicking Vergo, while Vergo himself didn't seem to have received any injury at all. It can be seen in terms of strength that Sanji has lost to him.

6. Doflamingo

While in Dressrosa, Sanji faced Doflamingo in Sunny Go. Sanji directed continuous kicks until Doflamingo admitted that he was strong. Unfortunately, all of Sanji's attacks were blocked by him. Doflamingo also almost defeated Sanji with his Overheat technique.

Luckily Law immediately came to help by moving Sanji just before he was hit by this deadly technique.

7. Vinsmoke Judge

Judge is Sanji's biological father who had a duel with him at the Germa 66 headquarters. At that time Judge cheated a little, causing Sanji to lose to him. Sanji was also trapped with explosive handcuffs so he couldn't move freely.
