What’s the deal with Alter Ego’s scrims? How did they suddenly become one of the most fearsome teams in MPL ID Season 15?

Alter Ego entered this season surrounded by doubts. Few believed they would rise to the top, especially given their transfer moves.

Signing Dreams and Hijumee was a solid decision, but neither was considered a superstar. Meanwhile, Rine’s inclusion raised eyebrows since he had never played at the MPL level before.

Yet, Alter Ego silenced all skepticism. Their 4-2 record in the first three weeks of MPL ID Season 14 proved they were on the right track. Rine and his squad even became the first team to defeat EVOS this season.

But how dominant are Alter Ego in scrims? Are they as unstoppable there as they are on the official stage? Or are they just average behind the scenes?

The Shocking Reality of Alter Ego’s Scrims

During a recent livestream, REKT, one of Alter Ego’s coaches, revealed something surprising. Despite their strong performance, many teams refuse to scrim against them.

Alter Ego has been rejected by most MPL PH teams for scrims. As a result, they’ve had to seek practice partners from other regions—especially since MPL ID teams typically avoid scrimming against each other.

"We don’t scrim with PH teams. We mostly scrim against Cambodia. No one wants to scrim against AE," said REKT.

"It’s different with BTR because they have PH players—Emann and Light—so communication is easier."

"Malaysia also has strong teams like SRG. PH isn’t the only benchmark. It’s not like AE is dominating PH—Gebe (another team) is the one doing that," added the former EVOS captain.

REKT’s explanation makes sense. PH teams aren’t the sole measure of strength, and Alter Ego has remained competitive even while facing opponents from other regions.

Will this rejection fuel Alter Ego’s dominance even further? Only time will tell.
