As an alter ego for Usopp, Sogeking really paints a new color to Usopp as a character. These fun facts about Sogeking!
Anime & Manga | 11 November
Although widely considered a weak character in One Piece when compared with Luffy, Zoro and Sanji in the Straw Hat crew, Usopp is still a very relevant character as a brilliant marksman and a great engineer who can craft weapons and perform maintenance to the ship.
Usopp also has a great mind that works best in a pinch, hence why he deserves a lot more attention as he continues to make a change in many things he approaches, especially when he creates an alter ego called Sogeking who appears to be very different from Usopp, personality-wise!
Usopp’s phenomenal alter ego also has a lot of things up his sleeves, so check out these fun facts about Sogeking!
1. First Appeared in Water 7 Arc and Ennies Lobby
During the Water 7 Arc, Usopp is overwhelmed with guilt when he can’t help Robin. To make amends, he leaves the crew and helps the others by creating an alter ego of him wearing a distinct mask and calling himself Sogeking.
Sogeking comes from two words: Soge (sharpshooter) and King, and he wears the mask he obtained from Puffing Tom’s sea train to hide his identity while having deeper pitch when talking.
2. Sogeking Awakens Usopp
Due to being powerless when compared to his crewmates, Usopp always feels helpless to help others. However, after becoming Sogeking and helping his friends, he realizes that he is one of the most precious crewmates in the group, especially as a sharpshooter.
From there on, Usopp becomes more confident when becoming Sogeking as proven during his fight against Kumashi as he becomes braver and more brutal when wearing the mask. Oh, and also his newest wanted poster depicts Sogeking instead of Usopp.
What’s even more impressive is how different Usopp and Sogeking are, as they frequently argue inside Usopp’s head when facing Kumashi, indicating that he’s separating his character from Sogeking.

3. Usopp’s Skill Names Change When Becoming Sogeking
Another interesting thing to note is that Usopp changes his skill names to hide his identity and this turns out to be very effective as a lot of people don’t realize that Sogeking is Usopp, even though everything else about his attacks and skills are just the same as usual.
Because of this notable weakness, Luffy is very aware of the situations around when unleashing Snakeman mode.
