1. Fatal Frame

First appearing in 2001 on the Playstation 2 console and then following its release on Xbox and Playstation 3, Fatal Frame immediately was sold out because of its uniqueness. Titled ‘Zero’ for the Japanese version and ‘Project Zero’ for the European version, this so-called scariest survival horror game can make you all get goosebumps while playing it. Just imagine, you are trapped alone in an ancient haunted house and have no weapons or physical ability to fight to defend yourself.

There is only an ancient obscura camera that you can use to photograph the ghosts and evil spirits that haunts you. Photographing ghosts that like to disappear and appear suddenly in front of you will really frighten you. Especially if you want to quickly defeat the ghosts, you have to take a clear picture of the ghost's face and get as close as possible to your camera.

Not to mention the tense atmosphere of the Himuro Mansion's haunted house background, the backsound that gives you goosebumps can also make you shiver while playing this game. Set in 1987, Miku Hinasaki is looking for her sister, Mafuyu Hinasaki who is known to have disappeared with her journalist team while covering a haunted house called Himuro Mansion. Miku who is looking for her sister to Himuro Mansion has to be trapped in it for several nights. The haunted house turned out to have taken many victims from time to time, because it was related to the sacrificial ritual of a young girl named Kirie to seal the gates of hell.

2. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly

The success of the Fatal Frame game immediately encouraged TECMO to immediately release a sequel in 2003. Appearing on the Playstation 2 console and later on Xbox and Playstation 3, the second series entitled Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly can play 2 protagonists named Mio and Mayu.

If in the first game you were only trapped in a haunted house, then in this second installation you will be trapped in a very outer haunted village with many houses. The unique gameplay with 2 twin characters who work hand in hand to find a way to survive is exciting to play. Even when one of the characters disappears or runs away, you should be able to find and chase her.

It tells us about Mio and Mayu, a pair of identical twins who get lost in a village that turns out to often hold sadistic rituals for young twin girls. The spirits of Sae and Yae become curious and cause a massacre of all the villagers, and all the dead residents become ghosts as well. Mio and Mayu who are trapped in the village are threatened to have the same ritual of killing each other because they are twins.

3. Fatal Frame III: The Tormented

The third series of the Fatal Frame game franchise was released on the Playstation 2 in 2005, and also followed its appearance on the Playstation 3. According to the title sequence, the first Fatal Frame can only play 1 person, the second series can play 2 people, so in this third installation you can play 3 people. Like a trilogy, the protagonists of this game are Miku Hinasaki from the first game, Kei Amakura uncle Mio and Mayu from the second game and also a new character named Rei Kurosawa.

The three protagonists are not trapped in a haunted place like in the previous game series, but trapped in a cursed nightmare that can haunt them wherever they are. Rei always has nightmares after an accident that makes his girlfriend, Yuu, died, while Rei, who was careless in driving, survived. Miku, who lost her sister in the first game, finds her traces in the same dream as Rei.

Kei, who is still curious, tries to help Mio to find her missing twin, and he also finds clues that Mayu is in an interconnected and continued dream every night. What's terrible about the nightmare is that it can relate to the real world like a cursed tattoo can appear on the body of the person who dreams of it.

Reika Kuze, the ghost of the tattooed girl who wandered in the dream, was originally a ritual sacrifice of sleeping to death while her body was tattooed by various spells and her legs and arms were nailed to the ground by the Sleeping Priestess. Those who play this game will feel horror if the game has entered curfew and enters the realm of a scary dream, and feel relieved when it is morning to wake up from a dream, and so on.

The comfortable atmosphere when the game is not in dreamland, in the setting of the protagonist's modern residence and being able to carry out daily activities makes this game feel like an RPG. 4. Fatal Frame: Mask of The Lunar Eclipse

Exclusively released on Nintendo Wii in 2008, Fatal Frame: Mask of Lunar Eclipse is the fourth title that can play 4 protagonists. The interactive Nintendo Wii controller can let you point the camera at the TV screen with the Wiimote, as if you were shooting the ghosts directly. Sometimes you have to pick up the phone with the Wiimote held to your ear and only from that Wiimote you can hear a ghost calling you.

The horrific interactive experience makes this game even more scary to play. Not to mention the haunted Rougetsu Island setting where the Kagura Dance ritual is performed and a woman must dance to her death with a mask nailed to her face during eclipse.

The playable protagonists in this game are 3 girls whose childhood was traumatic because they had been kidnapped to Rougetsu Island, and also a detective who had saved them. Ruka Minazuki had to come to the island again following Misaki Asou and Madoka Tsukimori who had been there first. The trauma of their kidnapping on the island causes them all to lose their memories. Chou can only wield a flashlight that has been enchanted against the ghosts, unlike the girls who can use Obscura camera.

5. Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir

Imagine you are a Fatal Frame character who has to take pictures of ghosts to chase them away in the real world. ‘Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir’ is a spin-off of the Fatal Frame franchise that was released exclusively on Nintendo 3DS in 2012. The Pokemon Go-style Augmented Reality presented by this game makes you take pictures of ghosts around you with the N3DS camera, which can definitely scare you. while playing the game.

Sold with an Augmented Reality book in the form of a sacred Memoir that can be scanned by the N3DS camera, you will be able to see ghosts coming out of the pages of the book. 6. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

Also titled Fatal Frame: Oracle of The Sodden Raven, this latest series is often called the sexiest horror game with its erotic characters and costumes.

The son of the protagonist of the first and third game Miku Hinasaki named Miyu Hinasaki must find his missing mother in a haunted mountain named Hikamiyama. Yuri Kozukata, who can see the past by touching an object and summoning spirits from the spirit realm, is the protagonist of this game as well. A request to find the owner of an antique shop Hisoka Kurosawa on Mount Hikamiyama becomes Yuri's main goal in this game.
