Throughout 2021 you have been spoiled with several video game movie adaptations, including; Mortal Kombat, Werewolves Within, and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Soon we will enter the year 2022, which is of course there will be more news about video game movie adaptations being developed. So what are these movies? Take a look at the following list!

1. Uncharted

Uncharted is an action film that fans of the Uncharted franchise have been waiting for. Previously, the film was planned to be released in July 2021, but was forced to be postponed until February 11, 2022. Uncharted will feature several big stars such as Spider-Man’s actor, Tom Holland.

He will portray Nathan Drake, who is one of the most important characters in this story. Many fans hope Tom can portray Nathan's character well in the film.

2. Minecraft: The Movie

Minecraft: The Movie is a film that fans have been waiting for, but unfortunately this film is always plagued with problems, starting from Rob McElhenney, the director, who quit on the project which resulted in the postponement of its release date.

Although the release date has been announced, information about the film Minecraft: The Movie is still very minimal. We'll just have to wait and see how the film will turn out.

3. Five Nights At Freddy's

Then there is a film adaptation of the horror game franchise Five Nights At Freddy's which is planned for release in 2022. The creator of this game, Scott Cawthon revealed that the Five Nights At Freddy's film is still in the works. But some time ago, Scott Cawthon through the Five Night At Freddy's Subreddit also explained that there was bad information about the FNAF film. Because all the concepts and scenes that had been planned by his team had been rejected for inclusion in the film, so they took a long time to choose the concept for the film.

However, after discussing for a long time, finally Scott Cawthon and his team have succeeded in getting a suitable concept so the film production can start. Even so, unfortunately no information and release date has been revealed.

4. Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Following the success of the first film, Paramount Pictures will release the sequel to Sonic The Hedgehog next year. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will premiere on April 8, 2022. At The Game Awards 2021, they also shared the first trailer for the sequel. In the second movie, Sonic will continue the adventures with his friends. But interestingly, Knuckles will make his debut in the sequel.

Based on the film's synopsis, Knuckles partners with Dr. Robotnik on a quest for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilization. To that end, Sonic teams up with Tails on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

5. Tom Clancy's The Division

In March 2021, Ubisoft and Netflix announced the film Tom Clancy's The Division. They even announced the list of cast and crew for The Division. Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously directed Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Skyscraper, and Netflix’s Red Notice. Ellen Shanman will be writing the film's script along with Thurber. The two main actors will still be played by Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Unfortunately, not much is known about the Tom Clancy's The Division film, other than the cast and director list. Even so, rumors claim that the movie will premiere next year.

6. Tomb Raider 2

The Tomb Raider film, starring Alicia Vikander, is a video game adaptation that is quite successful in attracting audiences when many films from video games fail. So it doesn't take long to plan to immediately make a Tomb Raider sequel. Actually, the sequel to Tomb Raider has been prepared for a long time and is scheduled to air in March 2021.

At that time, director Ben Wheatley was hired to direct this film. But unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting was canceled and Ben Wheatley resigned from the Tomb Raider project due to other work. 7. Super Mario Bros.

Actually, this game was also made into a film in 1993, with actor Bob Hoskins playing Mario. Until Shigeru Miyamoto as video designer, producer and director of Nintendo games announced Super Mario Bros: The Movie at the Nintendo Direct.

10. Mega Man
