New City Hunter Anime Movie Presents Crossover Lupine III and Tama & Friends!

The official Twitter account for the City Hunter franchise announced on Wednesday 29th August 2023 that their latest anime movie City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust will feature crossover characters from the Lupine III series, namely Lupine and Jigen, as well as the main characters from Tama & Friends. : Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?, the cat Tama.
This movie also introduces several new characters and voice cast including:
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Angie, a foreign movie producer who comes to Japan to make a movie about her cat's journey around Japan.
- Kenyuu Horiuchi as Shin Kaibara, a mercenary leader who once raised Ryo, an orphan, as a warrior.
- Tomokazu Seki as Pirarucu, a member of the "Wetworks" assassination team.
- Subaru Kimura as an Espada, a member of the "Wetworks" assassination team.
This movie will also bring back the three thieving sisters from the Cat's Eye anime. Keiko Toda and Chika Sakamoto will voice Hitomi and Ai as in the original Cat's Eye anime, while Rica Fukami will play the character Rui. Additionally, Ryota Yamasato of the comedy duo Nankai Candies will voice a man who tries to get close to Angie.
This movie will be released in Japan on September 8th. Anime Limited will screen the movie in North America, the UK, and Ireland in 2024.
City Hunter franchise director Kenji Kodama will direct the movie under his Sunrise studio and The Answer Studio Co., Ltd. This movie's script was written by Yasuyuki Muto (Deadman Wonderland), and Aniplex is in charge of distribution of the movie.
This movie will reveal Ryo Saeba's past and the death of his partner, Hideyuki Makimura, as well as explore Angel Dust's pivotal role in the original series.
Returning voice cast for the movie include Akira Kamiya as Ryo Saeba, Kazue Ikura as Kaori Makimura, Harumi Ichiryusai as Saeko Nogami, Tessho Genda as Umibozu, and Mami Koyama as Miki.
TM Network will perform the opening theme song "Whatever Comes" and the ending theme song "Get Wild" (the original ending theme song to the anime series).
This new anime movie was released as a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the hit television anime City Hunter.
City Hunter is a manga by Tsukasa Hojo that ran from 1985 to 1991 and had 35 volumes. The manga has inspired four anime series, one anime movie, and several special episodes as well.
