The official website for the live action movie adaptation of Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga has officially released on Wednesday, August 29th 2023, revealing the trailer, visual, cast, production staff, and the movie's release date on January 19th 2024.

This movie will be directed by Shigeaki Kubo under the auspices of the CREDEUS company. Tsutomu Kuroiwa is in charge of writing the movie's script, while Yutaka Yamada is composing the music. Hiroshi Nakagawa and Debo Akibe will ensure an accurate representation of Ainu culture in this movie.

Golden Kamuy began as a manga first published in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in 2014 and ended in April 2022. Viz Media published the English version of the manga and describes the first volume as follows:

In the early 20th century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi Sugimoto struggles to survive during the post-war gold rush in the wilds of Hokkaido. When he finds a map to a hidden Ainu treasure, he begins a dangerous journey to find it. However, he isn't the only one hunting for it, and everyone who knows about the gold is willing to kill for its possession!

Amidst the harsh conditions of the north, with ruthless criminals and a brutal Japanese army, Sugimoto will need all of his skill and luck, as well as the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa, to survive.

Golden Kamuy has also been adapted into an anime series which first aired in April 2018. The success of this manga has continued in anime format and has received good reception from fans. In this series, the fourth season of the anime first premiered in October 2022, and production for the final arc of the anime has also been greenlit.
