Takumi Kitamura, the actor who played Takemichi Hanagaki in the first Tokyo Revengers live-action movie, expressed his excitement about doing fight scenes again, being able to meet other cast members, and quoting the line "Call Me by My Name."
Director Tsutomu Hanabusa and producer Shota Okada also stated that they look forward to reprising their roles. The mangaka, Ken Wakui, added that he has just read the script, but his heart won't stop racing at the thought of seeing Takemichi (Takumi Kitamura), Mikey (Ryo Yoshizawa), and Draken (Yuki Yamada) in the movie screen again. He also mentioned that several new cast members will join for the sequel.
The first live-action movie adaptation of Tokyo Revengers was slated for a premiere in Japan in October 2020 but was delayed to 2021 due to the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Japan. The production was also halted in April 2020 due to COVID-19. The movie was eventually released on 9 July 2021. Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui live-action, Miseinen dakedo Kodomo ja Nai) directed the movie. Whereas the rock band SUPER BEAVER performed the theme song, titled "Namae o Yobu yo" (I'll Call Your Name).
Ken Wakui launched the Tokyo Revengers manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2017. Kodansha Comics publishes the digital version of the manga in English. This manga got its anime adaptation which first aired on 10 April 2021. "Seiya Kessen" (Christmas Showdown), the latest arc in the anime, will premiere in January 2023.
