Encore Films began streaming the trailer for Makoto Shinkai's Suzume no Tojimari on Thursday, February 16, 2023. The Suzume no Tojimari trailer reveals that the film will be released in Indonesia and the Philippines on March 8, 2023, and in Singapore on March 9, 2023.

Suzume no Tojimari sold 38.7% more tickets and made 47.4% more than Makoto Shinkai's previous best-selling film, Your Name or Kimi no Nawa. Suzume no Tojimari also sold 14.8% more tickets and earned 14.4% more revenue than Shinkai's previous film Weathering With You.

Currently the film has become the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan at number 17, and also the highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan at number 10.

Actress Nanoka Hara voiced the female character Suzume Iwato. Idol group SixTONES member Hokuto Matsumura (Toru from Liar × Liar live-action, Shizuka Doumeki from xxxHOLiC live-action) made his voice acting debut in the film voicing Sota Munakata, a young man who begins his adventures with Suzume.

Makoto Shinkai (your name., Weathering With You) directed the film Suzume no Tojimari and wrote the screenplay. He is also credited as the author of the original story. Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., Weathering With You) is designing the characters. Kenichi Tsuchiya (your name., Garden of Words) is serving as animation director.
