Fnatic Disband Their Dota 2 Team After 10 Years of Struggle
Fnatic disbanded their Dota 2 team after a poor performance in the first season of DPC SEA 2023 January, 31st.
Dota 2 | 15 February
Fnatic disbanded their Dota 2 team last Friday (10/2). They decided this after experiencing a poor performance in the Division I matches of the first season of Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) South East Asia (SEA) 2023. The competition ended at the end of January and put Fnatic in the bottom feeder position in points.
This condition made Fnatic decide to withdraw from the Dota 2 scene because they felt they had started the season with very bad results.
At the beginning of 2023, the team just decided to reshuffle its entire roster in order to get the most out of the Dota 2 scene this year. The five new members are Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte, Damien "kpii" Chok, Armel "Armel" Tabios, Djardel "DJ" Mampusti, and Jaunuel "Jaunuel" Arcilla.
However, instead of experiencing an improvement in performance, Fnatic, which was previously in Dota 2 Division I, actually occupied the bottom place and had to be kicked to Division II at the beginning of the season.
"We have pondered and deliberated over the continued fate and championship potential of Fnatic in Dota 2, and finally we have to make the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily withdraw from the Dota 2 Pro Circuit," reads the official Fnatic team page.
They also thanked all the players, staff, and fans especially in the SEA region who have been faithfully supporting them.
Meanwhile, various other Dota 2 teams also said goodbye via twitter tweets to Fnatic. For example, Boom eSports tweeted,
"see you arround boys"
Or there's also Team Secret who tweeted,
"Until next time,"
What do you think about Fnatic's decision? Is it too quick to give up or is it the right move?
