The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 17 has not only delivered intense battles between teams in the Land of Dawn, but has also brought significant changes to the broadcast side. While the spotlight has usually focused on meta shifts, drafting, and player performance, this time attention has also been drawn to new faces behind the scenes.

MPL ID S17 has come with a different approach. It has not merely presented matches, but has also elevated the viewing experience through sharper analysis and more engaging delivery. This has been reflected in the arrival of two new talents: Ronaldo Aditya Lieberth, better known as Aldo, and Sabilla Aprilia.

Interestingly, Aldo has not simply joined as a regular talent. The former ONIC Esports coach has taken on the role of an analyst on the English caster desk—a position that has required deep strategic understanding as well as high-level communication skills.

From Championship Stage to Analyst Desk

Aldo’s name has not been unfamiliar in the Indonesian MLBB competitive scene. He has been recognized as the coach who successfully led ONIC Esports to MPL ID Season 8 and Season 10 titles. In addition, he has also handled major teams such as Bigetron Esports, Alter Ego Esports, and Natus Vincere.

His decision not to continue coaching this season had initially surprised many. However, that move has turned out to be part of his personal plan to take a break from the high-intensity competitive scene.

“All of this started from my decision to take a break from the pro scene in Season 17. From there, I wanted to try something new that is still related to esports,” Aldo said.

Rather than fully stepping away from the scene, Aldo has chosen a new path that has remained closely aligned with his expertise. Broadcasting has been something he has been interested in for a long time, even during his coaching career.

With prior experience as a guest panelist, MPL has seen strong potential in him—not only because of his reputation, but also due to the unique perspective he has brought as a former coach.

Bringing Deeper Insights

Unlike typical casters or commentators, Aldo has approached the role with in-depth analytical thinking. He has not only explained what has happened in-game, but has also broken down the reasoning behind every decision.

“With my experience as a coach, I have been used to looking at the game from a deeper perspective, starting from drafts, win conditions, in-game decision making, and even small details that are often overlooked,” Aldo explained.

“I want to bring additional insights that do not just explain ‘what happened’ but also ‘why it happened,’ as well as its overall impact on the game. So viewers will not only see who wins, but also understand why they win,” he added.

This approach has been highly relevant, especially for viewers who have wanted to understand MLBB from a competitive standpoint. In other words, Aldo’s presence has had the potential to elevate the educational value of MPL ID broadcasts, not just their entertainment factor.

Despite embracing his new role, his competitive drive has not fully faded. The ambition to return as a coach and secure international titles has remained a long-term goal. For now, however, he has chosen to focus on developing himself as an analyst and talent.

Sabilla Aprilia: A New Energy on the MPL Stage

While Aldo has brought analytical depth, Sabilla Aprilia has come in as the energy that keeps the broadcast dynamic alive. Her role as a host and MC has been crucial in maintaining audience engagement, both in the arena and for viewers at home.

Sabilla’s journey to MPL ID has not been instant. She had once received an opportunity in the past, but it had been delayed due to the pandemic—turning into a “what if” moment in her career.

However, her consistency and dedication have eventually paid off. An appearance at an esports event two years ago has become the turning point that led her back to the MPL ID Season 17 stage.

“Two years ago, I was at an event. I did not realize that someone in the audience was paying attention, and who would have thought that two years later, that person would contact me to talk about MPL Indonesia Season 17. From that conversation, I got the opportunity to be part of the talent this season,” Sabilla said.

For Sabilla, this opportunity has meant more than just a job—it has been a major milestone in her career. She has recognized MPL ID as the highest stage in Indonesia, carrying massive expectations.

“Besides feeling happy, I am also very grateful because Mobile Legends has a special place in my heart. Even after talking with MPL, I immediately kept learning so I could give my best performance and not disappoint,” she shared.

Sabilla has viewed MPL ID as the pinnacle of Mobile Legends tournaments in Indonesia, where millions of eyes are watching, and which can significantly impact her career as a host and MC.

“In my opinion, this opportunity is very important. There is also happiness and unforgettable memories in being part of the journey of Indonesian teams competing live. The biggest impact is expanding my connections with everyone involved, considering MPL has opened my career path from the beginning until now,” Sabilla concluded.

A New Broadcast Formula for MPL ID

The combination of an experienced analyst like Aldo and an energetic host like Sabilla has created a new balance in MPL ID S17’s broadcast format. This has not been a mere cosmetic change, but a transformation with the potential to raise the overall standard of production.

Aldo has provided depth—sharp and structured analysis—while Sabilla has delivered width—emotional reach and energy that keep audiences engaged.

With this formula, MPL ID has not only become a spectacle, but also an educational platform for the MLBB community. Viewers have no longer just seen results, but have also understood the process behind a team’s victory.

Ultimately, the presence of these two new talents has signaled that MPL ID has continued to evolve—not only in gameplay, but also in how competitive stories are told to the audience.

If this experiment succeeds, MPL ID S17 may well have set a new benchmark for esports broadcast quality in Indonesia.
