The game developer of Fortnite, Epic Games, has announced that they will be ending support for the Windows 7 and 8 operating systems. The latest update of Fortnite will no longer be accessible to computers with older operating systems.
In an official announcement on the Fortnite website, Epic Games explained that they will focus on developing games for newer operating systems, such as Windows 10 and macOS. They also emphasized that older operating systems have reached the end of support from Microsoft.
The end of support for Windows 7 and 8 is not surprising, considering that Microsoft has already announced that they will be ending support for both operating systems. Support for Windows 7 ended in January 2020, while support for Windows 8 ended in January 2023.
This announcement has an impact on the large number of Fortnite players who are still using the older operating system. They will no longer be able to update their game or play the latest version of the game. Epic Games also stated that they will not provide technical support for issues related to older operating systems.
However, for users still using older operating systems, they will still be able to play the older version of Fortnite, which is compatible with the Windows 7 and 8 operating systems. However, they will lose access to the game's newest features and updates.
The end of support for Windows 7 and 8 is part of a natural development in the tech and gaming industries. With support for older operating systems discontinued, developers can focus on developing games that are more advanced and more stable on newer operating systems.
For Windows 7 and 8 users who still want to play Fortnite, it might be time to consider upgrading to a newer operating system. This will ensure that they have access to the latest Fortnite game and feature updates, as well as get technical support if they run into any issues.
In order to continuously provide an optimal and innovative gaming experience, game developers like Epic Games need advanced and stable technology. Support for older operating systems is no longer a priority for them, so users need to adapt to this ever-changing technology.
