Decent free-to-play soccer games on mobile are easy to find, but who says PC gamers have to spend money just to play soccer games as good as FIFA and Football Manager? From your run-off-the-mill soccer gameplay, manager simulation, to games for potato PCs, here's a list of the 12 best free-to-play soccer games you can try on Steam.

1. eFootball PES 2021 LITE

When it comes to free-to-play soccer games, it seems that there is no other choice. eFootball PES 2021 which is now free is the best choice that you can download from Steam as seen by the 11,637 active players. Even though it doesn't have Master League and Become a Legend modes, the free version still includes main modes such as Local Match, Co-op, MyClub, Edit Mode, and others. Around 8.299 players are online when the article was written.

2. Soccer Manager 2020

If you want to play a football simulation or strategy game without spending money, you can try the Soccer Manager series. For the 2020 edition, you can create your own stadium and it includes 800 clubs from 33 countries. However, the tactics you can choose are rather limited and the outcome of the match seems random. There are 75 people playing it. 46 people are currently playing it.

3. Soccer Manager 2021

Then for the 2021 edition which has 620 players, developer Soccer Manager Ltd added gameplay updates and graphic improvements, but the opponent's AI often cheats and is able to beat any scores at the last minute. In the last 24 hours, 430 people are online.

4. Head Goal: Soccer Online

For those of you who have a potato PC or laptop, you can enjoy this simple title. Playing as humble balls you and three of your friends can compete in a game of football or volleyball.

5. Dark Roll: Free Kick Challenge

In this game, your job is just to score free kicks. In addition to the multiplayer mode, which challenges each player to score the most goals on five tries, you can unlock new orbs by completing various missions. A total of 414 people were playing this game at the time of writing.

6. Super Club Soccer

This game is quite unique compared to other free-to-play soccer games because Super Club Soccer uses a turn-based system. You have to think tactically quickly to launch a pass or shoot because each player's turn only lasts for six seconds. You can also design your team's uniform and logo freely.

7. 90 Minute Fever - Football (Soccer) Manager MMO

90 Minute Fever is another free-to-play soccer managerial simulation game that you can try. In addition to designing your team's kit, including for the U-18 and U-21 teams, you can also watch the match in real-time from a top-down perspective.

8. Futuball - Future Football Manager Game

As the title suggests, here you become the manager of a football club in the future world of 3020. Future technology allows you to collect the DNA of legendary athletes from Messi, Ronaldo, to Maradona, then create android clones of them to compete in futuristic stadiums. Pretty interesting concept, right?

9. IOSoccer

IOSoccer developer said that the game has a complex football gameplay while still maintaining the fun element of sports game, giving you complete control over every dribble, shoot and pass. This game offers a variety of game modes from 4v4 futsal to standard matches. Mod support is also robust enough to allow you to create maps, uniforms, balls, and even accessories such as your own shoes.

10. Supraball

In this 5v5 soccer game you have to shoot the ball into the goal to score points. If you are short on teammates and enemies, then the empty slots will be filled by bots. Not bad for a match or two with friends to fill your afternoon.

11. AXIOM SOCCER

You could say it's a free version of Rocket League. Here though, you don't control a car, but a floating tank instead. You can then use the cannon to shoot the ball from a distance and score points. However, the feature makes 3vs3 games feel much more chaotic, so 1vs1 or 2vs2 is more recommended.

12. Crazy Foods

Finally, there is a fruit-themed shooter game. But even though it's basically a shooter, Crazy Foods recently added a soccer game mode. Like Supraball you have to shoot the ball into the goal to score.
