Konami is one of the publishers that is absent in E3 2021. The Japanese company reasoned that the timing isn’t right and the COVID-19 pandemic is still on-going. Previously, Konami also announced a new game titled GetsuFumaDen, a console and PC game, not a pachinko game.
Despite being absent, Konami previewed a little bit of their current project. It turns out, Konami is working on several key projects that will be announced in the coming months. The key project meant here can be anything. Gamers hope that Konami is planning to create a remake of some of their best games.
Speaking of Konami, fans hope that Konami can revive some of their games. What are they? Here are the top 7 games by Konami that deserve a new series.
1. Castlevania
Castlevania is Konami's legendary game franchise. In fact, this game has created its own genre called Metroidvania. It feels like now is the right moment if Konami wants to revive the game.
You could say Konami used to release Castlevania regularly. The last game was Lord of Shadow 2 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC which was released in 2014. This game underwent a major overhaul in terms of gameplay because it no longer uses a side-scrolling style. Not only changes in gameplay, Castlevania was left behind by Koji Igarashi in 2014. He even created the spiritual successor of Castlevania, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night in 2019.
Will Konami dare to work on the Castlevania franchise that Koji Igarashi has left behind? We will see later.
2. Suikoden
True RPG gamers miss playing Suikoden. One of the uniqueness of this game is that the player will collect 108 characters. Suikoden usually relates to wars between kingdoms. For the main series, the Suikoden franchise has five games. There are also spinoffs from Suikoden that adopt a variety of new gameplay such as Suikoden Tactics.
For some reason Konami seems reluctant to continue the Suikoden franchise. Even though this game already has a lot of regular fans. Suikoden can also be considered as one of Konami's icons for RPG games. Like how Square Enix has Final Fantasy, Konami has Suikoden.
3. Silent Hill
Silent Hill is a horror game that fans have been anticipating for. Not only because it features terrible monsters, Silent Hill is also famous for its puzzles and complex storylines. Because of these uniqueness, Silent Hill was made into a big screen film.
From the first game released in 1999, the main series from Silent Hill had seven games. Besides the main series, Silent Hill has a lot of spin-offs. One of them is P.T. which was done by Hideo Kojima. Unfortunately Konami had no intention of making P.T. as the next Silent Hill. Finally, the Silent Hill franchise has been abandoned until now.
Seeing the many horror games today that follow the Silent Hill concept, it looks like it's time for Konami to show off again. Do you agree?

4. Dance Dance Revolution
Who would have thought that Dance Dance Revolution was one of Konami's game franchises. This game is unique. Players do not use the controller to play this game, but rather by stepping on the icons that appear on the floor with their feet like they are dancing. In Indonesia, this game is usually found at Timezone.
Now with increasingly sophisticated technology, Dance Dance Revolution might be presented via virtual reality. So the players don't need to be nervous when playing because they are watched by many people.
5. Contra
Contra is also Konami's legendary franchise. 90s gamers must be familiar with this one shooter game. Contra's fate is almost similar to Castlevania.
This game, which is identical to the 2D side scrolling style, underwent a transformation in its latest series, Contra Rogue Corps, which was released in 2019. The 2D side scrolling style was changed to isometric and the results were not as good as expected. Before releasing Contra Rogue Corps, Konami also had the chance to make a Contra pachinko game. The only Contra game that is still loyal to its old format is Contra Returns. However, this game is only for mobile.
6. Frogger
Frogger is actually a collaborative project between Konami and Sega. Konami developed the game and Sega became a publisher. The concept of Frogger is very easy to understand, which is helping a frog to cross a street filled with cars.
Until now, many versions of Frogger have been made. Starting from mobile games, PC games, consoles, and even into slot machines for casinos. Imagine if Frogger was remade and then turned into a virtual reality game. It is guaranteed that those who play will have heart disease because they are shocked when run over by a car.
7. Metal Gear Solid
Despite leaving behind grief and drama, Metal Gear Solid is Konami's masterpiece. The development of this franchise stopped after Hideo Kojima left. Konami himself had experimented that resulted in Metal Gear Survive. But there’s no praise, only scorn.
It's been four years since Metal Gear Survive was released. Konami should have been able to get up and develop a Metal Gear game as it should be. Since it's a remake era now, why doesn't Konami remake the Metal Gear game that was released on NES? Fans already know who is Big Boss in Phantom Pain. Now it's time to see how Big Boss ends up in Solid Snake's hands.
