SNK released two trailers for The King of Fighters XV highlighting a new character named Dolores, voiced by Yuko Kaida. The second video also highlights the Open Beta Test for the game, which will be held from November 19 to 22, 2021.

SNK will release The King of Fighters XV on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on February 17, 2022.

SNK postponed the release of the game The King of Fighters XV due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affecting its development schedule. The game was originally slated to launch in 2021.

The King of Fighters XV game will feature 39 playable fighters, including all the characters from the previous game.

The list of playable characters includes: Shun'Ei, Meitenkun, Benimaru Nikaido, Iori, Joe Higashi, Kyo, Chizuru, Leona Heidern, Mai Shiranui, Andy Bogard, Yuri Sakazaki, Terry Bogard, Yashiro Nanakase, King, Shermie, Chris, Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, Ralf, Clark, Blue Mary, Luong, Vanessa, Ramon, King of Dinosaur, Athena Asamiya, Antonov, Ash Crimson, Kukri, Isla, K', Heidern, and Dolores.

SNK previously released The King of Fighters XIV for PlayStation 4 in August 2016. SNK then released the game for PC via Steam in June 2017.

This game inspired a CG animated film from China titled The King of Fighters: Awaken which will be released simultaneously worldwide in 2022.
