The first episode of Valorant Episode 6 introduced the new map called Lotus. More content are coming with the arrival of Valorant Episode 6 Act II on 7 March 2023, including a new Valorant Agent. The arrival of this new chapter also marks the debut of the newest Valorant Agent, Gekko, who hails from Los Angeles, the host of the upcoming 2023 Valorant Champions Global Finals.

VALORANT: Gekko’s Agent Trailer

Riot Games has officially revealed its newest Valorant agent, Gekko, along with a new trailer and story. Here's the trailer video of the latest Valorant agent:

VALORANT: Gekko's Name Origin

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gekko will be introduced as a rookie Agent in the game. Per ValorLeaks, 'Gekko' is the official name of the new Agent. According to the reknown leaker ValorLeaks, Gekko is given the code name "Smoke Dancer". Gekko's relation with other agents are still yet to be confirmed.

VALORANT: Gekko Gets Recruited by Reyna

Gekko is of Mexican-American descent who lives in East Los Angeles, making him the third American character in the game. His style is heavily influenced by American culture. He loves skateboarding and playing basketball, as well as scouring his social media. Based on the trailer and teaser videos, Gekko is recruited into Valorant Protocol by the Mexican agent, Reyna, who can communicate with Gekko in Spanish and English. It is possible that Gekko also knows Neon, and some pictures also show something to do with Jett and Brimstone, whom he calls "Bread Papi".

VALORANT: Gekko’s Role

Just like other Valorant Agents, Gekko also has his own role that relates to his abilities. Gekko is an Initiator after the release of several new Duelists in the game. The Initiator role is one of the four roles of Valorant agents. This agent's strongest suit lies in his ability to get rid of opponents from the sites for his team to take over. Usually, Initiators have a revealer skill that uncovers opponents' whereabouts and forces them to withdraw from the area they want to fight over.

VALORANT: Gekko’s Abilities

This Agent's ability kit is quite unique as it allows him to plant and defuse spikes without him having to be adjacent to them. Another unique ability is that he can take advantage of his little friends called Dizzy, Wingman, Mosh, and Thrash. Here are Gekko's abilities:

1. Dizzy (E)

Dizzy is a turtle-like creature that Gekko can shoot into the air. When Dizzy is thrown into the air, she releases a dazzling plasma blast to any opponent in her line of sight. Opponents will experience blindness when they are infected with the plasma. When Dizzy expires, she returns to her dormant globule form and Gekko can interact with her to reclaim her. Gekko can reuse this ability after a short cooldown.

2. Wingman (Q)

Wingman is an owl/penguin-like creature that when fired, will look for opponents and blow up the first opponent he sees with a deadly Concussive Blast. As the name suggests, he can also defuse or plant spikes as long as Gekko has or holds spikes. Like Dizzy, Wingman can be recharged after a brief cooldown.

3. Mosh Pit (C)

Mosh is a small, green jelly blob creature that looks like a Tanuki's head which can be thrown like a grenade. As soon as Mosh lands, he will multiply himself into a green pool and explode, causing damage to the surroundings.

4. Thrash (X)

Thrash is an armored fish creature, which Gekko can throw and connect his mind with. When activated, Thrash can hit opponents and explode to detain any opponent within a small radius. Just like DIzzy and Wingman, Thrash can be reclaimed and recharged after a short cooldown although it can only happen once per round.

VALORANT: Gekko Release Date

Gekko will officially arrive as part of Valorant Episode 6 Act II on Tuesday, 7 March 2023 for players in America. Whereas for players in Europe and Asia, you have to wait one day longer as usual. He will join the game along with all the new content in the upcoming new Battle Pass.
