Currently, generation Z (Gen Z) is taking a more important role in the digital world. They grew up with technology and the internet, which makes them very connected to the virtual world. However, there is one experience that may be difficult for Gen Z to fully understand, namely playing on "Abang-Abang Gimbot." In this article, DuniaGames will discuss 10 things that only gamers from the 80s and 90s could experience when playing with gimbot brothers who used to often hang out in front of schools or around the village and perhaps made Gen Z feel like they couldn't relate. What are they? Come check out the following list, guys!

7 Things You Only Experience When Playing Abang-Abang Gimbot

1. The Origin of "Gimbot"

The term "gimbot" actually comes from the word "Game Boy." In the early 90s, Nintendo released a handheld device called the Game Boy which became very popular throughout the world. However, the term "Game Boy" may not be familiar to Indonesians, so the term has changed to "gimbot" which is easier to pronounce and known to Indonesians. Apart from Game Boy, the term "gimbot" is also used for several Game Watch devices which are often sold by gimbot brothers.

2. Game Boy and Game Watch

The traveling Gimbot merchant usually provided both Game Boy and Game Watch. The Game Boy is a device that can play various Nintendo games that can be replaced with a cartridge card. On the other hand, the Game Watch can only play one type of game with a simpler screen. Another difference is the rental price, where the Game Boy is usually more expensive than the Game Watch. Rental prices can vary depending on the region and owner of the gimbot brothers.

3. Connected to Car Battery

One of the main challenges in playing Game Boy is battery life. To overcome this, the merchant often use cables connected to a vehicle battery. This cable not only maintains battery life, but is also used to retrieve a Game Boy that has expired.

4. No Save File

One of the big drawbacks of playing on an '80s and '90s Game Boy was the lack of a game save system that exists today. When playing the game on the Game Boy, players had few options, such as renting longer to try to complete the game or switching to another game that had a lower difficulty level or faster gameplay.

5. Limited Game Boy

Gimbot brothers often only have a limited number of Game Boys. This was caused by the relatively high price at that time and also by the limited battery life. As a result, children who want to play gimbot often wait in long queues, and competition for the opportunity to play is quite fierce.

6. Limited Game Choices

Apart from the limited number of devices, the choice of games is also limited. This means players only have limited access to the games they can play. Some gimbot brothers have cartridge cards that contain many games in one package, so players can choose the games they want to play more flexibly.

7. Rarely Move Places

Due to high demand, the merchant often stay in one location and do not travel around. This means that children from other areas may find it difficult to enjoy gimbot games. However, gimbot brothers are often found in school cafeterias, which makes them easily accessible to rental customers. Even though the gimbot brothers have not moved, they are still an inseparable part of children's playing memories in the 80s and 90s.

So, those are some interesting things about the gimbot brothers that you should know. What memories do you have? Share in the comments below.
