HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact version 4.4 "The Enchantment of Spring Wind Patterns" will be released on January 31st. Liyue will also celebrate its annual Lantern Rite and open a new area in the northwest of Liyue, Chenyu Vale. There is also a chance to earn abundant rewards, including 10+3 Intertwined Fate, one selected Liyue 4-star Character, as well as Xingqiu's new costume for free.

This year's Lantern Rite Festival comes with a new theme, kites, along with plentiful rewards to welcome success in the coming year. New event stories, new minigames, new redeemable items (including Xingqiu's new costume), will soon greet players.

More rewards will be added this Teyvat New Year, up to 10 Intertwined Fates that can be picked up from the limited Daily Absence event, an additional 3 Intertwined Fates, and 2 Fragile Resins that will be delivered via in-game messages. Ganyu and Shenhe's new costumes will also be available in the Shop at a discounted price for a limited time.

With the arrival of the new year in Teyvat, Xianyun, the human form of an Adeptus that players may have met in previous stories, and the dancer Wushou Gaming will join as playable characters. The 5-Star character Xianyun, aka Cloud Retainer, is an Anemo-element Catalyst user. 

Xianyun can jump high and and lunge forward in the air twice, or help nearby party members by increasing their jumping ability, Plunging Attack, and recovering. The 4-Star Pyro character, Gaming, is a Claymore user who incorporates the Wushou dance in his battles.

The first half of the v4.4 Application Event will feature Xianyun, Gaming, and Nahida. Xiao and Yae Miko will appear in the second half.

The latest expansion of the Liyue area, Chenyu Vale is a beautiful area shrouded in clouds and mist, surrounded by towering mountains, roaring waterfalls, prosperous villages, and the legends of the Adeptus. Qiaoying Village is famous for its tea-making methods passed down by an Adeptus. 

To the west of the region is an important trading hub connecting Fontaine with Liyue called Yilong Wharf, which is also famous for its unique water-powered elevator.

But most of Chenyu Vale is wilderness. With the blessing of the Adeptus, players can transform into a special carp that can fly through the sky to reach previously unreachable areas. On your journey, you will encounter a legendary beast that roams Chenyu Vale, the "Solitary Suanni". This beast is the most mysterious and powerful of all the creatures and will appear as a new Boss enemy.

Two important technologies will be implemented to showcase the incredible scenery of Chenyu Vale. Global Far Fog (GFF) allows fog and clouds to change in terms of density and direction based on considering altitude, topography, and other mountain factors. 

Another new technology, Gradient Tint Rock, colors mountains in blue, green, yellow depending on their altitude, visibility, rock texture, and mountain structure. Please check the media kit for a more detailed description and video demonstration.
