Fizz is one of the Champions worth buying if you are looking for a deadly Assassin with great magic damage. This Champion is one of the best counters for Zed because of his Playful (3), which allows him to become untargetable while he’s vaulting. Now, to get a better grasp of this Champion, take a look at the following guide by Dunia Games.
1. Item Build
[Lich Bane]
Since Fizz is the type of Champion who combines his skills with AP Basic Attacks, you may want to get Lich Bane for his first item. Lich Bane grants him an additional 75% Base Attack Damage (+50% Ability Power) bonus Magic Damage for his next Basic Attack after using a Skill. This item also offers 80 bonus Ability Power, 10% bonus cooldown, and 300 Mana.
[Ionian Boots of Lucidity]
For his boots, you can pick the Ionian Boots of Lucidity for its 10% bonus cooldown. The bonus cooldown comes really handy for a Mage, especially for Fizz, who does rely on his skills and combos.
[Awakened Soulstealer]
Since Fizz has a long Ultimate cooldown, it would be smart to pick Awakened Soulstealer. Awakened Soulstealer reduces its user’s Ultimate by 3% after getting a unique Takedown. Capping at 15% after 5 stacks.
[Morellonomicon]
You can buy Morellonomicon after Awakened Soulstealer. This item provides additional 70 Ability Power and 300 HP -- making you tankier. Morellonomicon also works amazingly against Champions who rely on lifesteal in team fights because of its Grievous Wounds -- an effect that reduces the enemy’s health regen.
[Rabadon's Deathcap]
To make it even more difficult for enemies to survive your attack, you can have a massive boost of Ability Power from Rabadon's Deathcap. Despite its high price, this item is totally worth buying for its additional 130 Ability Power. Not to mention its Passive, which grants you 40% bonus Ability Power (of your total Ability Power). Even Tanks will find it difficult to withstand Fizz’s attacks with Rabadon's Deathcap.
[Void Staff]
Next, you may want to get Void Staff. This item is crucial in the late game, because, the Tanks would’ve already equipped themselves with a magic-resist item, thus it would be harder for you to dish out some damage on them. In terms of its effect, this item grants you 70 Ability Power with a Passive that provides you 40% magic penetration.
[Upgrade Ionian Boots of Lucidity: Stasis Enchant]
Since he’s a Mage, Fizz is very squishy, especially if he’s targeted by Assassins like Master Yi. Therefore, you can upgrade your Ionian Boots of Lucidity to Stasis Enchant. It allows you to become invulnerable for 2.5s.
2. Rune
[Electrocute]
As a Mage, Fizz desperately needs to rely on burst damage to take down his enemies as quickly as possible. So, you may want to pick Electrocute as his Keystone. By hitting enemies three times (basic attacks and ability power), the target will be struck by lightning, inflicting them 30-184 damage (based on level); (40% bonus Attack Damage); (25% Ability Power).
[Brutal]
For Domination, you can pick Brutal to complement your Runes. It gives him 14 bonus Ability Power and 2% bonus magic resist. With Brutal, you will be able to withstand incoming front laners like Tanks.
[Regeneration]
For his next Rune, you can pick Regeneration to give Fizz some sustain. Its Passive allows you to regenerate 2% missing health or mana every 3s (based on whichever percentage is lower).
[Hunter - Genius]
With Hunter - Genius as his Inspiration Rune, Fizz will receive a 2.5% bonus cooldown reduction. Also, unique takedowns will grant him a 1.5% bonus cooldown reduction. This Rune synergizes greatly with Fizz’s skill set, especially his Trickster (3).
3. Spells
[Flash]
Flash is a Spell for the people. Almost every Champion uses this Spell to chase down enemies or escaping from them. However, this cooldown for Spell is quite long, 150s.
[Ignite]
Ignite greatly benefits Fizz in duels. You can use Ignite when the enemy HP is critically low, as it will burn your target with 60-410 true damage (based on level) for 5s -- finishing off your target when they try to escape the team fight.
4. Combo
As for his combo, Fizz is quite reliant on his Ultimate, Chum the Waters. This Ultimate has amazing burst damage and knocks enemies up. So, here’s his basic combo:
Chum the Waters (Ultimate) -> Urchin Strike (1) -> Seastone Trident (2) -> Playful / Trickster (3)
5. Gameplay
- Use Playful / Trickster (3) to dodge enemies’ skills, like Zed’s Ultimate; or use it to escape from your matchup;
- Cast Chum the Waters (Ultimate) from afar for more Damage;
- Be confident in duels, as long as you can hit your targets with his Ultimate, Fizz has insane burst damage if he manages to hit all of his targets using his combo.
