Despite the lack of appeals from players, Jarvan IV is actually very useful in team fights. He can create an impassable terrain to lock down his targets, preventing them from escaping. 1. Item Build

[Black Cleaver]

Black Cleaver will make Jarvan even more aggressive, whilst also providing him with additional HP, making it harder for enemies to finish him off. With this item, Jarvan will get extra 30 Attack Damage, 20% Cooldown Reduction, and 350 HP.

What makes Jarvan more effective with this item is the Passive that the Black Cleaver has, which reduces your target’s armor after landing a hit by 4% for 6 seconds -- stacking 6 times for 24% reduction.

[Mercury Treads]

For his boots, you can get the Mercury Treads for Jarvan IV. Mercury Treads will grant him magic resistance while also reducing the duration of enemies’ CCs.

[Death’s Dance]

For his fourth item, you may want to get Death's Dance to give him sustain in team fights. Death’s Dance will grant Jarvan a 10% lifesteal with a bleed effect. With the bleed effect of the 30% damage taken for over 3 seconds, enemies will have to think twice before dealing with you.

Death's Dance also offers 300% HP, 35 Attack Damage, and 10% Cooldown Reduction -- making him even more deadly although it doesn’t only give you Attack Damage.

[Sterak's Gage]

Since you can’t find Tiamat in Wild Rift, you can get Sterak's Gage directly. This item helps Jarvan to be tankier and more difficult to kill. As for its Passive, it gives him a shield that absorbs 75% of his bonus HP when his HP goes down below 35% for 3s.

And, this item can only be used by melee Champions. So, don’t expect to equip your Marksman with Sterak's Gage.

[Randuin’s Omen]

Since Jarvan IV is the type of Champion who jumps onto the frontline and goes toe-to-toe with the enemy Marksman, you may want to get Randuin's Omen. As may already know, Marksman Champs in Wild Rift can be really deadly if you let them use their Attack Speed. So, you can outsmart it by getting Randuin’s Omen for 2,800 gold. This item will reduce the enemy’s 15% Critical Strike damage and Attack Speed.

[Guardian Angel]

For his last item, you can get Guardian Angel. Why? Because you have a high chance of getting killed in the heat of the battle, so you can purchase Guardian Angel (to resurrect you upon death).

[Upgrade Mercury Treads: Locket Enchant]

For his boots upgrade, you can pick the Locket Enchant. Its effect shields Jarvan and nearby allies from 140-420 damage (based on level) for 2.5s with 60s cooldown.

2. Rune

[Conqueror]

As a Fighter, Jarvan IV needs high Damage to finish off his targets quickly. Therefore, you can pick Conqueror as his Rune. Its Passive grants him 2-6 bonus damage (based on level) stacking up to 5 times -- for a maximum of 10 - 30 bonus Attack Damage (based on level).

[Brutal]

For Domination, you can pick Brutal to complement other runes. This Rune grants Jarvan a bonus of 7 attack damage and 2% armor penetration. With Brutal, you will be able to withstand a duel against Tanks with high armor, like Jarvan IV. 

[Hunter - Titan]

While Jarvan is arguably a lethal Champion, he still needs HP to sustain against the enemy Marksman. Therefore, Hunter - Titan will come in handy, especially for the 20 bonus max HP and 4% Tenacity for each unique takedown.

[Mastermind]

To speed up your laning/jungling phase, you can pick Mastermind for its 10% bonus true damage to Turrets. You will also earn 100 gold and 500 XP after taking (or assisting) these objectives.

3. Spells

[Ignite or Smite]

1. Ignite (Lane)

Ignite greatly benefits Jarvan in duels. You can use Ignite when the enemy HP is critically low, as it will burn your target with 60-410 true damage (based on level) for 5s -- finishing off your target when they try to escape the team fight.

2. Smite (Jungle)

Use Smite if you are playing Jarvan as a Jungler. Smite is generally used to depletes a jungle monster’s HP instantly -- making it easier for you to farm in the jungle. There are two types of Smite: 

1. Challenging Smite (reducing the damage taken from the target);
2. Chilling Smite (slowing the target).

[Flash]

Flash is a Spell that works well for any Champion. Almost every Champion uses this Spell to chase down enemies or escaping from them. However, this cooldown for Spell is quite long, 150s.

4. Combo

To maximize his ability, Jarvan does have a combo that you have to master. This combo will inflict immense damage on opponents, as well as bringing a huge benefit in team fights. Here’s his combo:

Demacian Standard (3) -> Dragon Strike (1) -> Golden Aegis (2) -> Cataclysm (Ultimate)

5. Gameplay

1. Since his Demacian Standard (3) - Dragon Strike (1) combo can get you through obstacles, utilize this combo to ambush your targets;
2. Use Golden Aegis (2) when you’re being ganked by enemies. The more enemies you hit with Golden Aegis (2), the more shield you will get;
3. Be extra careful when using Cataclysm (Ultimate). If things don’t turn out the way you expected, you can break down the wall by recasting Cataclysm (Ultimate).
