1. Item Build

[Blade of the Ruined King]

For his first item, you may want to get the Blade of the Ruined King. This item will grant Master Yi 30% bonus attack speed and 30 Attack Damage. Blade of the Ruined King is also useful for Master Yi since it has a Passive effect, which reduces 25% of the target’s movement speed who has been hit by his 3 basic attacks.

[Ninja Tabi]

As for his boots, it’s highly advised to get the Ninja Tabi for Master Yi. This item will provide him with 10 armor and blocks 10% of damage from the enemy basic attacks. It’s perfect for Master Yi whose main duty is to target the enemy Marksman in team fights.

[Phantom Dancer]

The next item you can get is the Phantom Dancer. Since Master Yi is a Champion who goes straight to the enemy Marksman (ADC), it would be smart to get a defensive item, whilst also giving him some offensive stats like Phantom Dancer. This item grants additional movement speed for Master Yi of 45% and 25% bonus Critical Chance.

For its Passive, Phantom Dancer grants its user a 240-590 shield (based on level) when his HP is below 35%.

[Infinity Edge]

Master Yi still needs Attack Damage although his main focuses are Attack Speed and Critical Strike. Thus, Infinity Edge is a great choice for his core item.

This item will increase your Critical Strike damage with an additional 60 Attack Damage and 25% critical strike chance. However, this item is rather expensive, so it would take some time until you can get it.

[Bloodthirster]

When the match progresses into the late game phase, you can start to rely on lifesteal to fight against your opponents. Now, for the recommended item, you can pick Bloodthirster for 3,400 gold. It offers 15% Physical Vamp with an additional shield when you are overhealed.

[Guardian Angel]

To make yourself tankier, you can pick Guardian Angel. This item will provide you with 40 armor and 45 Attack Damage and the Resurrect Passive effect.

You can get resurrected with 50% HP and 30% of max mana. However, this item has a 3-minute cooldown. So it’d be better to get it in the later phase of the game.

[Upgrade Ninja Tabi: Quicksilver Enchant]

For his boots upgrade, you may want to pick Quicksilver Enchant. This item has an Active effect that removes all crowd control effects instantly. Perfect for Master Yi who’s susceptible to the enemy Support’s stun and root.

2. Rune

[Conqueror]

As an Assassin-Fighter, Master Yi needs a lot of Damage to finish off his targets as quickly as possible. Therefore, you should pick Conqueror for his Rune. Its Passive grants him 2-6 bonus damage (based on level) stacking up to 5 times -- for a maximum of 10 - 30 bonus Attack Damage (based on level).

[Triumph]

For the Domination rune, you can pick Triumph for its 10% additional HP after getting a Champion takedown. It also grants him 3% increased damage to enemies with below 35% HP.

[Backbone]

To survive longer in the early game, you may want to get Backbone for Master Yi. This Rune grants him 10 bonus armor or magic resist (based on whichever stats you have less off).

[Mastermind]

To speed up your jungling and pushing phase, take Mastermind for its 10% bonus true damage to jungle monsters and Turrets. You will also earn an additional 100 gold and 500 XP if you manage to secure both objectives (assist still counts).

3. Spells

[Smite]

If you’re playing Master Yi as a Jungler, make sure you take Smite. It’s used to finish off jungle monsters quickly -- speeds up your farming. There are two types of Smite:

1. Challenging Smite (reducing the damage taken from the target);
2. Chilling Smite (slowing the target).

[Flash]

Flash is a Spell for the people. Almost every Champion uses this Spell to chase down enemies or escaping from them. However, this cooldown for Spell is quite long, 150s.

4. Combo

In terms of his combo, you just need to rely on his Attack Speed and the timing of his Alpha Strike, combined with the use of Highlander and Wuju Style:

Highlander (Ultimate) -> Wuju Style (3) -> Alpha Strike (1) -> Basic Attacks -> Alpha Strike (1)

5. Gameplay

1. As the Champion with an insane Attack Speed, you can dictate the tempo of the game to lead to the late game. The combination of Attack Speed and lifesteal will make you unstoppable;
2. Pay attention to the enemy Skill’s projectile to dodge it with Alpha Strike (1);
3. In team fights, you should wait for others to initiate. Wait until every enemy heroes with hard CCs have cast their skills, so you won’t be interrupted by root or stun.
