Twisted Fate is one of the best choices in Wild Rift for a Mid-laner. Although he’s not an aggressive Champion, he excels in terms of vision and Crowd Control. By relying on his Pick a Card (2), Twisted Fate can easily be a nightmare for many Fighters -- as he can maintain his distance by stunning them. Now, to get a better grasp of this Champion, take a look at the following guide by Dunia Games.

1. Item Build

[Rod of Ages]

Since he’s really prone to Burst Damage from the enemy Assassin, you may want to get the Rod of Ages (ROA) before other items. This item not only grants him 60 Ability Power and 300 Mana, but also 250 HP -- to give some sustain for him. As for its Passive, ROA restores his Mana equal to 15% damage taken from enemy Champion. Aside from that, the Passive also restores his HP equal to 20% Mana you spent (up to 20 HP per second).

[Ionian Boots of Lucidity]

For his boots, you can pick the Ionian Boots of Lucidity for its 10% bonus cooldown. The bonus cooldown comes really handy for a Mage, especially for Twisted Fate, who does rely on his skills and combos.

[Luden's Echo]

Next, you can pick Luden's Echo. This item makes Twisted Fate stronger in the early game due to its 80 bonus Ability Power, 10% bonus cooldown, and 300 Mana. For its Passive, Luden's Echo grants 100 bonus Magic Damage if he manages to reach 100 stacks of Discord (moving and casting abilities builds Discord)

[Lich Bane]

Aside from relying on his combos, Twisted Fate also needs to combine his skills with his basic attacks. Therefore, Lich Bane is a crucial item for you to get after the two items mentioned before. This item grants him 80 bonus Ability Power, 10% bonus cooldown, and 300 Mana. It also provides a 5% bonus Movement Speed for Twisted Fate to rotate more efficiently from mid, Baron, to Dragon lane.

[Rabadon's Deathcap]

To make it even more difficult for enemies to survive your attack, you can have a massive boost of Ability Power from Rabadon's Deathcap. Despite its high price, this item is totally worth buying for its additional 130 Ability Power. Not to mention its Passive, which grants you 40% bonus Ability Power (of your total Ability Power). Even Tanks will find it difficult to withstand Twisted Fate’s attacks with Rabadon's Deathcap.

[Void Staff]

Next, you may want to get Void Staff. This item is crucial in the late game because the Tanks would’ve already equipped themselves with a magic-resist item, thus it would be harder for you to dish out some damage on them. In terms of its effect, this item grants you 70 Ability Power with a Passive that provides you 40% magic penetration.

[Upgrade Ionian Boots of Lucidity: Stasis Enchant]

Since he’s a Mage, Twisted Fate is very squishy, especially if he’s targeted by Assassins like Master Yi or Zed. Therefore, you can upgrade your Ionian Boots of Lucidity to Stasis Enchant. It allows you to become invulnerable for 2.5s.

2. Rune

[Electrocute]

As a Mage, Twisted Fate desperately needs to rely on burst damage to take down his enemies as quickly as possible. So, you may want to pick Electrocute as his Rune Keystone. By hitting enemies three times (basic attacks and ability power), the target will be struck by lightning, inflicting them 30-184 damage (based on level); (40% bonus Attack Damage); (25% Ability Power).

[Brutal]

For Domination, you can pick Brutal to complement your Runes. It gives her 14 bonus Ability Power and 2% bonus magic resist. With Brutal, you will be able to withstand incoming front laners like Tanks.

[Regeneration]

For his next Rune, you can pick Regeneration to give Twisted Fate some sustain. Its Passive allows you to regenerate 2% missing health or mana every 3s (based on whichever percentage is lower).

[Manaflow Band]

As for his last Rune, you should take Manaflow Band, which increases your maximum mana by 30 (up to 300) when he lands an ability or empowered attack on an enemy Champion.

3. Spell Twisted Fate Wild Rift

[Ignite / Ghost]

  1. Ignite

Ignite greatly benefits Twisted Fate in duels. You can use Ignite when the enemy HP is critically low, as it will burn your target with 60-410 true damage (based on level) for 5s -- finishing off your target when they try to escape the team fight.

  1. Ghost

Since Twisted Fate doesn’t have any escape tools, Ghost is the perfect choice for his Spell. This Spell grants Twisted Fate a bonus of 25% Movement Speed for 6 seconds.

[Flash]

Flash is a Spell for the people. Almost every Champion uses this Spell to chase down enemies or escaping from them. However, this cooldown for Spell is quite long, 150s.

4. Combo

Compared to other Mages, Twisted Fate’s combo is pretty simple yet a bit tricky since you have to draw the right card when casting his Pick a Card (2):

Pick a Card (2) -> Stacked Deck (3) -> Yellow Card (2) -> Wild Cards (1) -> Basic Attack (2x)

5. Gameplay

  1. Use Pick a Card (2) wisely, whether it’s Blue Card (Mana regen); Red Card (AoE and slow); Yellow Card (stun);
  2. Refrain from spamming Destiny (Ultimate). Make sure you teleport to the right positions, like next to an ally or an enemy with low HP;
  3. If the enemy is outside of the range of your basic attack, it would be smart to poke them with Wild Cards (1).
