The official website for the anime series adaptation based on the manga Gushing Over Magical Girls by Akihiro Ononaka recently released a preview video for the anime's premiere episode on Wednesday, January 3rd 2023.

The Gushing Over Magical Girls video features footage from the first episode, as well as Utena (Fuka Izumi) introducing the show's premise. The character Haruka, played by Kaori Maeda, sarcastically comments that Utena is simply repeating the story introduction from the anime's official website.

The Gushing Over Magical Girls anime will premiere on the AT-X channel on January 3rd at 23.30 JST, and will also be broadcast on Tokyo MX, BS11, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto. The anime will be available in three different versions: a TV broadcast version, a "gushing" version on streaming platforms, and an "ultra-gushing" version on Blu-ray Disc and DVD.

The broadcast TV version will censor both audio and visuals, the "gushing" version will censor the audio and some of the visuals, while the "ultra-gushing" version will censor neither. HIDIVE will broadcast the anime live during its broadcast in Japan and will provide a "gushing" version of the series for streaming on streaming platforms.

Tadato Suzuki (2019 Fruits Basket episode director) and Atsushi Ootsuki (Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox, Motto To Love Ru) will direct the Gushing Over Magical Girls anime at Asahi Production studio. Noboru Kimura (Gundam Build Divers, Skate-Leading Stars) is in charge of the series' screenplay, and Yasuka Otaki (A Galaxy Next Door) is designing the characters.

Satoshi Motoyama (16bit Sensation: Another Layer, Dragon Ball Z Kai) is the voice director for this anime, while Yasuharu Takanashi (BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-), Akinari Suzuki (Giant Beasts of Ars), and Johannes Nilsson (Bakugan : Evolutions) are responsible for the music. Lantis is responsible for the music production.

Ononaka launched the Gushing Over Magical Girls manga in 2019 in Takeshobo's Manga Life Storia magazine. After the magazine stopped publishing, the manga moved to the magazine's Storia Dash website.
