This year's ninth magazine issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump revealed that popular volleyball manga author Furudate Haruichi will release a new one-shot issue for his Haikyuu!! manga. This one-shot manga will later be published by Shueisha in the magazine's 10th issue on February 5, 2024. This special one-shot manga also commemorates the arrival of the anime film Haikyuu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump.

This one-shot special chapter is said to tell a 'different point of view' of the battle between Karasuno High and Nekoma High in the upcoming film Haikyuu!!. This is Furudate Haruichi's first launched Haikyuu!! original story.  The manga was released in 2011 and the manga series ended in July 2020. The anime adaptation was produced by Production I.G Studio which premiered in April 2014. The second season of the anime appeared in October 2015, the third season in October 2016, and finally, the fourth season aired in January 2020.

Currently, the anime series Haikyuu!! will be continued in the upcoming anime film project with the title Gekijōban Haikyuu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump) will be the first film in a two-part film in the final sequel film project of this series. This film is planned to premiere in Japan on February 16 with a global screening schedule that has not yet been announced. Where this anime film is again held by Toho Animation which will produce both parts of Haikyuu!! Final Movie.

The presence of this special one-shot manga will be a cure for longing for fans and can also provide another point of view regarding the upcoming plot of the anime film which will discuss the battle between Nekoma and Karasuno which fans are eagerly awaiting.
